Unity Day 🧡
Unity Day was celebrated on October 16, 2024. It is an event created by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, where we all come together in one giant orange message of hope and support. WEAR AND SHARE orange to color our nation, and even the world, to visibly show that our society believes no child should ever experience bullying. At GH, students and staff were all in orange to send out this message of hope to our commUNITY, to show that we want to prevent bullying and that we are united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Great Hollow vs. Cancer
October 21 was our annual, Great Hollow vs. Cancer event where we raised over $2,000.00 to support cancer research to help find a cure. Many of our sports teams were in action for this special event. In our main event, the Great Hollow football team was victorious over Hauppauge Middle School. The boys and girls soccer teams had games and the field hockey team practiced. The Great Hollow Kickline and Cheerleading team also performed. This event was organized by Great Hollow Middle School teacher Colleen McKillop. We would like to send a special thanks to everyone who contributed to making this event a success, especially, our PTA, building aides, Mrs. Putnam and the NJHS, staff, and our security team for ensuring a safe and well organized event. Since its inception in 2015, more than $15,000 has been raised! To view pictures of the event, click HERE.
📖 Spooky Stories in the Library 👻
Our sixth grade students were treated to a Spooktacular event on Halloween! Mrs. Jakubowsky invited guest readers to visit the library to read some favorite scary stories and poems to the ELA classes. Special thanks to Dr. Secaur, Mr. Katz, Mr. Scomillio, Mr. Macaluso, Mr. Russo, and Mrs. Ingoglia, for taking time out of their schedules to share their love of reading with our students! Thank you to our student reader, Nirya Noolu, for reading to the classes! Click HERE for photos from the day!

🎀 Red Ribbon Week 🎀
RED RIBBON WEEK is Celebrated Annually October 23-31.
Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. During Red Ribbon Week, youth and adults around the nation pledge to increase their knowledge by learning more about the destructive effects of drug abuse, including prescription drug misuse, and renew their commitment to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The theme this year is, "Life is a Movie. Film Drug Free." Great Hollow celebrated the week with spirit days- "Put a cap on drugs," "Partner up against drugs," "Say peace out to drugs," "Say BOO to drugs," and "Team up against drugs."
