Math ββ
Students will be working on learning the properties of multiplication and division with units of 2-5 and 10 with the Eureka Math Curriculum. Students will be using multiple strategies such as arrays and skip counting to solve these problems.
Reading π
Throughout September, students will engage in Unit 1: The Wind in the Willows. This unit will focus on fictional narratives and their elements including theme, dialogue, narration, characters, plot, and setting. Towards the end of the month, students will move into Unit 2: Animal Classifications, which will focus on using text features to better understand a non-fiction text. Text features include table of contents, heading, bold print, photos, captions, chart, map, glossary, and diagrams.
Writing π
In Unit 1: The Wind in the Willows, students will focus on opinion writing. Students will write an opinion paragraph regarding a character from a story and a theme they portray best.

This month, students will work on their understanding of point of view to explain the importance of using multiple sources that represent diverse perspectives. Also, they will have the opportunity to name and explain how a person made a big difference in the community today by working for the common good.
