Keeping Us Connected Throughout the School Year
THIS WEEK AT WASHINGTON OAK
- This week in the Boats for kids program the fifth grade students learned about sheet metal. Throughout the building students learned about libraries, civil rights, poetry, division of decimals, place value and so much more. Everyone had a great time during the fun run. Thank you to all of the families who were able to join us and cheer on the runners. Your generosity has put our preliminary total at around $30, 000. We also enjoyed a fun crazy hair and hat day on Friday.
- Thank you for all of the candy donations for our annual trunk or treat. We look forward to seeing you there on Friday evening. It will take place from 6:00- 7:30 pm. We will open the parking lot to those of you who are setting up trunks at 4:30 pm. This will give us time to dismiss everyone and move any necessary cars. We look forward to seeing all of you there!
- Don't forget that this Tuesday is Jovie Day at Washington Oak. We will all be dressing in pink or purple, or both if you choose. Please see more information below!

Lunch Application- UPDATE - IMPORTAANT
Families if you have not already done so, please complete the application to see if you qualify for free or reduced lunch. You never know if you will qualify or not, but every little bit helps if you do. A letter went home this past week with a paper application as well. This year only, the state will pay for those families who qualify for reduced lunch as well. Your reduced status will not change, your lunch purchase however, will be covered. Hopefully this will be helpful to those who qualify. Letters will be coming home with balances in the coming week. If you have qualified since the start of school, those balances will be adjusted. If you receive a balance letter and you are not sure why, please reach out and we will look into it. at times students order when they are not supposed to or stop in for breakfast. We are happy to work with you to insure that this does not become a recurring event throughout the year.

Nurse's News
If your child is sick please reach out to the nurse and let her know. We understand that each illness does not warrant a doctor visit.
If a child has COVID symptoms they will need to be picked up.
(Testing requirements will be provided prior to school).
GI symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea require dismissal and your child must be free of symptoms for at least 24 hours prior to return to school.
A fever is defined as 100.4 degrees or higher and a student must be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of fever reducing medicines like Tylenol or Ibuprofen in order to return to school.
If your student tests positive-they will need to stay home for at least 5 days from either symptom onset or the test date if they were asymptomatic.
They may return when symptoms have improved and have had no fever for 24 hours (without the use of any medicine)
They will need to wear a well fitting mask when they return through day 10.
Please report all test results to the school nurse.
Teachers have been given a letter to share with you if your child's class has a severe nut allergy and must remain peanut and tree free. Please remember that they may have it in the lunchroom.
