Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our short week got even shorter for many with our no bus day on Wednesday. On no bus days the school is still open. It is recommended that you download the bus app or check the GYPSD bus status website.
This week our popcorn fundraiser orders went out to families and we had our Book Fair, both organized by Miss Weninger. Many students helped with the book fair to make this years another success.
On Friday by 3:45 our Digital Report Card will be posted to update you on your child's progress. Many of you logged in last year and are familiar with the system. I have provided a link to the division page on Reporting and Assessing. If you scroll down the page you will see video tutorials on the parent portal, I have also included the video on digital report cards and the grading scale below. A quick reminder that in this early reporting period "E - Excelling" marks are exceedingly rare as students are still showing their understanding of outcomes. If you have questions about report card grades or comments please reach out to your student's teacher.
Next week we will have have our Basketball wrap-up Monday 4-5. Skating Field trip on Tuesday the 10th, at the Evansburg rink. Our picnic Lunch in the Gym, and our Hot Lunch provided by Gina's Sugar Shack with sponsorship from DRAX in Entwistle on Wednesday. And our Christmas Craft day on Thursday, a rather full week.
In addition on Tuesday we have our December School Advisory Council Meeting. There will be a nomination and vote process to fill the vacant president position.
Students are busy preparing for our upcoming Christmas Concert on December 18th, students are encouraged to dress in the style of Whoville for this years Grinch themed event.
If you have any questions or concerns you can always reach out to the school through the office or email me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca.
Sincerely,
Alan Stoyles
Principal

Spotlight on School Improvement: Removing Barriers
Our 90 day plan identified a need for an intervention space for small group and one on one work near the K/1 and 2/3 classrooms to assist in supporting students. Staff has worked hard to convert our Art Room into a multiuse space than now doubles as convenient work space. We also have intervention spaces in our Quiet room and LST office.
