A Note from Mrs. Kyncl
May 29, 2020
Hello North Families,
Here we are at the end of the school year. I know this is not what any of us would choose, but we are continuing to find the light in what may have felt like a time of darkness. I read something last week that really resonated with me. "When you focus on the good the good gets better." As a staff we have realized time and time again that we are stronger together. I hope that you have felt the love during this time and that you continue to realize that our staff wants nothing but the best for our students and families. Watervliet Public Schools is truly a family.
Please reiterate to your children how proud you are of them and how proud we are of them! This was not easy and they continued to work hard and do their very best to learn under sometimes stressful circumstances. Their report cards will be in their bag when you pick up their belongings next week. Report cards will have "Semester 2" grades. All report cards will also have "COVID-19" listed in a footnote.
Summer may look different this year, but there are many things that are NOT canceled. Sunshine, outdoor play, nature walks, bike rides, time as a family...none of that is canceled. I would encourage you to make new memories and your children will remember this time as a time that brought your family closer together. Please know that we are still here for you. Please reach out to me or Mrs. B if you are struggling or just need an ear to listen.
I plan to share a short video next week that will replace our end of the year awards ceremony. I will be able to give a brief description of the things that we decided to keep for this year.
The "Opening Ceremonies" for our Toilet Paper Olympics will be posted on Monday morning at 9:00 AM. Our staff has created a fun video to kick off our last week of school! Thank you to Coach Ben who has created some fun events that your children can do at home!

As most of you know we have a preschool program that is housed at North Elementary. (Great Start Readiness Program) At this time our round-up for GSRP is being put on hold. We are working with Berrien RESA and other GSRP programs around the area to determine when the best time will be. There are a few steps in determining eligibility and that is hard to do with school/central office closed. If you are wondering if your child would be eligible please fill out the form below. Please email Mrs. Wagner at jwagner@watervlietps.org if you have any questions.
