A Note From The Principal
Dear Families,
Greetings, and I hope your summer has been filled with adventure, joy, and rejuvenation!
To our returning Mountain Lion families, welcome back to the upcoming start of another wonderful school year. For our new families, we can't wait to meet you! The first day of school in Austin ISD is Tuesday, August 20, but we have many campus events happening before this date. We hope to see you at some or all of them.
This summer newsletter edition will provide you with school updates as well as campus news and important dates to add to your calendar. Our Mills team strives to offer exceptional support, customer service, and care as you get your Mountain Lions ready for school. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me, anyone on the administrative team, or the front office for support. We are here for you!

Campus Building & Grounds Update
Construction crews have been working around the clock to complete updates to the front entrance and front office area. The City of Austin is also working on creating additional sidewalks and updating walk/bike spaces around the campus. You'll notice updates to these areas when school starts!

Austin ISD Information for Families
STAAR Scores Now Available to Families
Every school year, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are required to take the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) in specific academic areas. STAAR scores are now available for parent/caregivers to view. Please follow the directions below to access your child's STAAR scores.
To see a student’s STAAR results and other resources, families can follow these five steps:
- Log in to the Austin ISD Parent Portal.
- Navigate to the Frontline SIS Parent Self Service tile.
- You will be directed to log into Frontline Education using your same User ID and Password as the Austin ISD parent portal.
- Once logged in, click on the Texas Assessment Parent Portal link next to your child’s name.
- The Texas Assessment page will open and list all STAAR results, with the most recent listed at the top.
