I hope you and your families are having a great summer! There is only one week left before the first day of school. The current state funding created budget cuts for Texas schools and districts this upcoming school year. Dealey Montessori & International Academy along with all district campuses have been affected by these budget cuts and staffing reductions.This means we have had a lot of staffing changes on our campus. We are all committed to positively providing a smooth transition for our school community.

As a community, we have and will maintain a positive outlook concerning our future. On STAAR, we improved Domain 1 scores in 8 areas! We are currently ranked one of the best campuses in Dallas ISD and in the State of Texas by U.S. News and World Report. We have had tremendous positive outcomes and growth on this campus this past school year as we “Soared to New Horizons”. I am also pleased to share George B Dealey Montessori & International Academy just made Educational Results Partnership’s “Honor Roll” list of top performing schools in Texas. Just last week, we received another honor as the #10 middle school in North Texas by the Children at Risk research and advocacy group.

All of the Dealey 2024-2025 teachers and staff have a track record of getting great academic results while still providing an exemplary Montessori and middle school environment for all students. Additionally, our GT program will remain committed to student excellence with our current allocations and adjusted schedule.

As we all embark on these changes together, I want to say thank you. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. 24-25 Classroom Placement Guidelines

**All 24-25 Classroom Placements are complete. All of our Dealey classrooms are full at this time.

Spring 2024 Letter

Dear Families,

Over the next few weeks, we will begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. The Dealey staff spends much time and effort on this placement process. In putting together class lists for next year, we will consider many factors including research-based grouping strategies. We utilize the classroom teacher’s knowledge of every student, and in addition, our academic support teachers (504, ESOL, SPED), specialists, counselors and administrators provide input and review the proposed class lists.

Given the complexity of placing all students, we will NOT consider the following requests:

· Requests for a specific teacher.

· Requests that specific students be placed with your child.

· Requests NOT to have a specific teacher, unless you have had another child with that teacher in the past.

Your child’s classroom teacher will be sent out to you by July 28th.

Please understand that once homeroom teachers are assigned and students are placed, the lists are final. Moving even one child from a class can upset the balance of a classroom or interfere with scheduling.

Students approach the new school year in a positive light when we encourage them to be excited about making new friends and getting to know a new teacher.

We will not conduct individual conferences with the administration or counselors regarding placement.

If you need to file a placement complaint, you will be required to go through the formal Dallas ISD Appeal process. You will have only 10 business days after receipt of placement to file your formal appeal to the campus principal.

Again, each Dealey student will be hand placed with great care. Each student’s emotional well-being and academic success is our priority!
