Hello, Ericson Families,

We bring you this Special Edition Newsletter to shine a light on volunteer opportunities for parents, grandparents, and other caregivers. Your involvement makes the Ericson Community the special place that it is. Research shows us that when parents are actively involved with their children's education, student grades are higher, their self-esteem is greater, and they are more socially-adjusted.

There are still many ways to help Ericson have a great rest of the year. Find your fit as a Viking Volunteer at Ericson Elementary today:

2. Indicate your areas of interest in this Viking Volunteer Survey. A paper copy of the survey is also available in the office. If an opportunity fits with your interests and schedule, we will contact you!

The Ericson PTA and Friends of Ericson Foundation have generously donated money toward Scholastic books for the two classrooms with the highest volunteer survey completion rates. Submit the survey by February 29th to be included.

From on-campus opportunities, to projects that can be completed at home, please know there are so many different ways to volunteer and support students, teachers, and the community.

Q: What if I already completed a survey earlier this year?

A: Ericson’s needs are always changing. Please complete this updated survey that supports the greatest areas of need for the remainder of the school year. Only this survey will count toward the classroom survey competition and Scholastic Book reward.

Q: Can anyone volunteer at Ericson?

A: Any Ericson family member or guardian can apply to volunteer! After you’ve completed the survey, your next step is to complete the volunteer clearance packet, if you have not already done so for the given school year. If you indicate on the survey that you haven’t completed the volunteer clearance packet, we will send home a copy with your child.

Q: I completed a volunteer clearance packet, do I still need to do the survey?

A: Yes, completing the survey allows us to know what your areas of interest are and what your current availability is.

Q: I completed a volunteer clearance packet, but I do not know if it was accepted, how do I find out?

A: Indicate this on the last question of the survey and we will contact you.

Q: Is after school care provided for parents who wish to volunteer?

A: Some events offer volunteers free before or after school care for Ericson students. More information will be provided for each event individually.

Q: What are the exact times of volunteer needs for each event?

A: Sign up links will be sent out closer to each event and will specify times. Selecting your interest in an event on this survey, does NOT commit you to the event.
