MCS Viking News
...from the Principal's Desk November Edition
From Mrs. Lake
I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Fall Break! The theme for this past month seems to have been "excitement." So many great things have been happening here at MCS. Our students were welcomed back from Fall Break to some colorful new playground activities, courtesy of our APPLES organization. A special thanks to them for dedicating their time and resources to making this happen. Our students are loving it!
This past week we have been celebrating Red Ribbon Week. The students have been so creative with their outfits for each of the dress-up days. Yesterday, we celebrated Halloween with our annual Halloween Parade and trick-or-treating with the teachers. The costumes were amazing and the students had a great time parading around the gymnasium and collecting their candy. Mr. Gehring even made a special visit and handed out some candy. Be sure to check out our FaceBook page to see all of the photos.
Earlier in the month, our students had the opportunity to meet two wonderful authors. Our kindergarten through third grade students met with Amanda Driscoll, who is both an author and illustrator. The students really enjoyed listening to her experiences and sharing ideas for drawings that she left behind and are displayed in our library windows. Our fourth through sixth grade students traveled to the high school auditorium to hear Michael Spradlin who shared about his travel experiences and their influence on his novels. Thank you to our librarian, Laura Frondorf, for bringing these exciting experiences to our students.
I would also like to thank all of the parents who came to our parent/teacher conferences at the beginning of the month. Building those relationships between parents and teachers is so important to a child's education. If you ever have questions or concerns about your child's progress or you just want to check in, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or contact me in the office. My door is always open, and I am always happy to help.
