Santa Susana News
SEPTEMBER 16, 2024
DEAR FAMILIES,
We are very excited to have cooler temperatures this week.
We still have a significant amount of students that still need their data confirmed in Aeries for the school year. Directions and other information is listed below.
Last week we did experience some seismic activity. We complete an annual disaster drill in October and multiple drop and cover drills throughout the year to help prepare ourselves and our students for these types of events.
If you want additional information on how to prepare your family at home, please click on the link below:
Please continue reading for additional updates.
Go Mustangs!

UPDATE YOUR CHILD'S AERIES ACCOUNT
Each school year, all students' information in Aeries needs to be reviewed and updated. If you need assistance doing this, please contact the office. I encourage you to use a computer and not a mobile device to complete this. It seems to work much better. It is very important to update Aeries annually so we have up to date contact information in case of an emergency. You will also be allowed to give your student permission to check out a library book. The orange button below will take you to the Aeries Parent Portal.
Here are some additional directions from our school librarian:

REFLECTIONS
“Accepting Imperfection”
The 2024-25 Reflections program theme was selected from student entries nationwide. Paige Opaska, an 8th grader from Barbara Bush Middle School PTA in San Antonio, Texas, submitted the winning theme. Paige says, "'Accepting Imperfection' is a reminder to myself that mistakes are welcome because they are a part of being human. Our flaws are as much a part of us as our strengths, so being imperfect should be perfect enough for us."
The Reflections Art Program has brought the arts to life for more than 10 million students since 1969. California State PTA and its members and families are at the forefront of this amazing program, which increases community awareness of the importance of arts in education.
Reflections encourages students of all ages to:
Unleash creative talents and be inspired
Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
Experience the fun and joy of making art
Tap into critical thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.
