MEET THE KAHLA ADMIN TEAM
A word from Mr. Carroll
Dear Kahla Families,
We're off to a fantastic start this year! We've made great strides in adapting to the changes in transportation, ensuring our students' safety while also speeding up the car rider experience. I'm proud to share that our morning drop-off line is now clear by 7:30 a.m., a significant improvement from previous years. However, I must emphasize the importance of not dropping students off on the street, as it creates a dangerous traffic hazard. Safety remains our top priority, and we've worked hard to make the drop-off and pick-up lines move efficiently. In the afternoons, the pick-up line is often empty by 3:30 p.m., if not sooner.
To further enhance safety, we've added crossing guards to assist students crossing West Little York Road at Yorkshire Woods Lane and Langham Creek Estates Drive. Please remind your children to only cross at these designated areas and not to dart across traffic. We're addressing this with students as we see it and holding them accountable to ensure their safety.
We're also excited about our upcoming Open House, and we can't wait to see you at our athletics games and fine arts performances, which are starting soon. It's going to be an amazing year, and our dedicated staff is committed to making Kahla a place your students are excited to be every day.
With that in mind, our goal is to have 95% of our students in attendance daily. Last year, we reached this goal throughout the entire fall, but this year we're a bit behind. Please do everything you can to have your child here at school and try to schedule appointments on days off or after school hours. Good school attendance is critical to student performance, and studies show that parents who encourage regular attendance have a significant impact on their child's success.
Thank you for your continued support, and let's make this year our best one yet!
Warm regards,
Joshua Carroll
Principal, Kahla Middle School
CAMPUS EVENTS
We’ve experienced a great start to the school year, and we're thrilled to invite you to our Open House event on September 5th at 5:30 PM. This is your chance to get an inside look at your child's school life, meet our dedicated teachers, and discover the amazing opportunities we have in store for our students this year. Additionally, we are providing food trucks for you to purchase dinner for you and your family!
We are starting the 2024-2025 school year off with a school-wide fundraiser using the Vertical Raise online/digital platform open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Kahla students with parent permission. If your student did not turn in their permission slip before last week’s deadline, it’s not too late! Please call Kahla and ask to be connected to the Academic Achievement Office.
