From Mrs. Smith......
Good evening!
Reminder: No School Tomorrow, February 19, 2024.
Boy, I know I keep saying it, but we had another great week at Schmucker.
Students are working hard in advisory. I know some of you have heard about the Road Kill Cafe!
Our wrestling team is making having lots of individual and team success. They group is large and they are super pumped up about the season.
Our 7th and 8th grade girls' basketball teams are having a great season. They have had some big wins lately.
SPARTY UP!
#PHMExcellence
Penn High School's Danielle Black is being recognized by Ivy Tech South Bend/Elkhart Campus as the 2024 President's Award for Excellence in Dual Credit Instruction! Mrs. Black is one of 19 recipients, each representing all 19 Ivy Tech campuses, making her a nominee for the Statewide Award for Excellence in Dual Credit Instruction. This award is presented annually to honor Ivy Tech's most outstanding dual credit instructor statewide. Dual courses give high school students the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously saving families thousands of dollars because students are completing college classes while still in high school. For the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years, Penn High School ranked FIRST in the state with the highest number of students earning ICC (Indiana College Core) or AGS (Associate of General Studies) certificates earned! This was just one of the reasons why earlier this school year, the IDOE recognized Penn with Excellence in College Readiness Award along with a $250,000 grant!
NEW NJHS MEMEBERS
I just wanted to shout out to those students who have been invited to join NJHS recently. The group is extremely excited to welcome them. I thank the whole NJHS group at Schmucker for all that they do in the school community and our neighborhood community.
ILEARN Dates To Remember
- ILEARN practice test will be April 9, 2024. Please take note that students must take the Practice Test in order to log in to the ILEARN testing platform.
- ILEARN will start on Tuesday April 16, 2024 at Schmucker. We are scheduled to start that morning at 9:05.
8th Grade Explorations Week
8th grade students who will NOT be attending the Washington DC trip were given a permission slip for our Explorations Week, May 20-24. The cost of the week is $30. Slips and money are due March 28th, but I would recommend getting it in sooner rather than later so it is not forgotten. Our amazing Assistant Principals and Dean have planned a great week.
