Rochelle Mackey
As a school we would like to officially welcome Rochelle to Stanley Avenue School in her role as a Learning Assistant. Rochelle comes to us with great experience and is a fully trained teacher.
Rochelle is Mum to Olivia in Room 13 and has had her other three children Kalim, Riley and Amber come through Stanley Avenue School. We are super lucky to have Rochelle as part of our staff.
Lateness to class
Firstly, I would like to commend the School Community for their efforts with student attendance over the first three weeks. We must continue to work together to keep our high attendance rates up.
A reminder that if students are even five minutes late to class this can have an impact on their day. Firstly, they miss out on their social connections prior to school with their classmates and teacher. Secondly, key organisational information can be missed which puts them on the back foot from the beginning of the day. A big thank you goes out to all of our school families/ whānau who get their children consistently to school on time. We appreciate it!
Rippa Rugby
Due to the horrendous weather this week our Year 5-8 Rippa Rugby tournament has been postponed until Monday 15th May. For those players that are participating, we will leave for Boyd Park at 11 am. The day should conclude at approximately 2.30 pm.

You can purchase the sport shirts and they arrive directly to your address and they even have Afterpay so that it makes it possible to budget. We are looking forward to seeing these appearing on our sports fields.
Stanley Ave Pukekos exploring Waikato Museum!!
Students explored Elizabeth Thomson's exhibit - Cellular Memory. Elizabeth is a Wellington based sculptor / installation artist who gains her inspiration from scientific knowledge such as botany, microbiology , oceanography and mathematics.
The next exhibit was the newly updated and interactive Excite. Students were able to investigate growing vegetables, mirrors and their differing effects as well as race the clock to see which animal they were faster than.
Pukeko students also had a fun time exploring collage with Cassandra and learning how to move and create varying pictures with different styles of paper.
The final stage was an amazing tour led by Elaine, through the Te Winika Exhibition and Katohia He Wai Moou, Katohia He Wai Mooku: Waikato River works by Fred Graham. Both of these stunning displays used varying mediums and textiles including carving, weaving and painting.
It was a great day out !
Pukeko teachers and students would like to say a HUGE thank you to our parent helpers who accompanied us on our trip - their attendance and assistance made this trip possible.
Matariki Breakfast 21st July Term 3
Every year at Stanley Avenue School we celebrate Matariki, which ends with a culminating activity where we involve our school community. This year we are planning a Matariki Breakfast on Friday 21st July (Week 1 Term 3).
Our event last year fed over 350 friends and whānau of the school and we are looking forward to being able to hold this event again this year.
We are currently seeking sponsorship from our school and wider community, to support us with this event. If you are a part of any business or family who might like to support us in any way, please feel free to contact Chris Finucane/Assistant Principal, or John Byers/ Principal.
Any assistance would be gratefully received.
