Parent / Teacher Conferences
I hope you are doing well. Last week, I sent an email with instructions on how to check your student's grades. I want to clarify that, at the elementary school level, grades won’t be updated continuously throughout the semester—this is more common for middle and high school levels. I encourage you to keep consistent communication with your student’s teacher for updates on their progress. We will continue to provide you with printed progress reports and report cards throughout the year to keep you informed.
PTO Sponsored Event
Thank you to our amazing PTO for hosting our family fall dance—we had a fantastic time! Thank you as well to everyone who joined us last Friday; it was wonderful to see so many of you there. For those who couldn’t make it, don’t worry—we’ll have more opportunities to come together and enjoy more fun events in the future!
Attendance
I am placing a strong focus on attendance for the remainder of the year, as I see the significant impact that missing class has on student progress. When students miss instruction from their teacher, there’s no true replacement for that experience. We can inform students of what they missed, but we can’t fully recreate the learning moments or conversations that took place. This gap can affect their confidence, especially when they aren’t able to participate in discussions about information they missed.
I understand that life happens, but our students depend on us to support their learning. Let’s do our very best to set them up for success by ensuring they arrive on time each day and stay for the full day. I assure you, consistent attendance truly impacts their growth and success.
Graham Traffic Policy
Parents dropping off in the morning or picking up during dismissal, I need for you to pull your car all the way up, allowing us to get as many cars across the crosswalk as possible at arrival and dismissal. It is December and our traffic procedures remain unchanged, therefore you should be more than familiar with the policies and procedures for our traffic flow.
Per Our Transportation Department:
I would like to bring to your attention that some students have been wearing blankets on the buses. This practice can create several issues, particularly concerning safety and the possibility of concealing items or obstructing camera views. As a result, wearing blankets on buses is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this will lead to disciplinary actions from the transportation department, as this will not be tolerated. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Avondale High School Showcase:
Avondale High School will host a community Curriculum Showcase on December 11, 2024, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. All staff, families, and community members are encouraged to attend!
All AHS staff will have their classrooms open to display work from this year and meet with families, student organizations, clubs, and athletics will be set up to share what they've been working on, and counselors and staff will be on hand to answer questions.
