We are so pleased to have completed our first week of school at Lansing Elementary! Students spent much of the first week learning about our rules and procedures. This week we will have our first Late-Start. This means that our building will not open for students until 9:00 on Thursday. This is a free service on Late Start Thursdays offered through our comuunity for students in grades K-5.
This week, we have our first Parent-Teacher Association meeting. Our Parent-Teacher Association meets monthly and is an opportunity for our families to get to know one another and participate in events we organize to support our staff, our students, and our community. Our first Parent-Teacher Association Meeting is August 22, from 6:30-7:30 in our library. Doors open at 6:00 for socializing & child care is provided. All are welcome & there is no obligation to join. If you do join it is $6 for the year.
Another upcoming opportunity to be involved in our school is our Lansing Elementary Site Council. Site Council is an advisory group that assists our school by providing advice and council around meeting performance goals and provides feedback and support. We also meet once a month. The first meeting is September 29th @ 4:00-5:00 in the library and child care is also provided. Thank you to everyone for your patience with our new traffic pattern. We are finding that dismissal times are shorter than last year. In my experience, it takes a few weeks for everyone to learn the pattern. Families wishing to avoid longer wait times are asked to consider arriving closer to 3:30 for student pick-up.
A few updates/information:
Arrival & Dismissal Map: Our traffic pattern for the 24-25 school year is all car riders will enter and exit on the west side of the building. Please remember that cars are not able to enter our front parking lot between 7:45 and 8:15 each day. Please see our map below!
Our Schedule: Our school day is from 8:30-3:30 (M-W, & F) and 9:30-3:30 on Thursdays. Students are considered tardy if they arrive at school after 8:30 (M-W, & F) and after 9:30 on Late Start Thursdays. If your student(s) is going to be late or absent please call us at 913-727-1128.
Bus transportation: Our bus compass app provides a great deal of information. If your student is a bus rider, please download the bus compass app.

Before/After School care: Please see Y-care flyers. Parents/Guardians using Y-care will enter on the west side (2/3 side) through doors 20 & 21.
Routines: If your students are sleepy this week, they may need to go to bed earlier. Some important school year routines include a consistent bedtime, getting plenty of sleep, and being prepared for school each day. Typically, routines take a few weeks to get down. Practice helps!.
