Greetings Patriot Families,

This week we will administer the PSAT and ASVAB on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 and our Seniors will complete their sizing for their graduation cap and gowns, take their senior group photo, and have their first senior breakfast. Please ensure that all students arrive to school on time for testing and Senior activities. Our testing coordinator, Dr. Larry has communicated the testing schedule locations by last name range. Please check Parent Square for this detailed information.

Congratulations are in order to our Marching Patriots who competed in the Hurricane Classic over the weekend and earned 3rd Place overall. We earned superior ratings in Drum Major, Color Guard, and Percussion and snagged a rating of Excellent Band overall in Class 2A! Congratulations to Coach Penson and our Cross Country Track team for winning 1st Place at the Alexander/Asics Invitational over the weekend! Our AFJROTC commanded the stage in the Fairburn Fall Festival over the weekend and demonstrated Patriot Pride! Congratulations to Mr. Kelley and Mr. Cleveland for a job well done! Congratulations to our Lady Patriots Volleyball team who swept Troup County in two straight sets last week on the road. Please come out to support them in the tournament this weekend at Trinity. Coach Smiley and our Football team collected another win on the road against Spalding High School. We will play an in county region game this Friday against Fayette County High School.

We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a Competitive Advantage!

PSAT administration will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. As a reminder, all 9th, 10th, and registered 11th graders will take the PSAT. All other 11th grade students will be administered the ASVAB and 12th grades will have designated senior activities in the gymnasium. Testing will start promptly at 8:35am. Please ensure your student is well rested, brings a fully-charged chromebook and calculator, as well as know their specific testing locations.

**All students with CollegeBoard-approved accommodations will be notified of their testing room location.

The math lab will now be open during study hall on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please tell students to request a pass to 226 if they need tutoring. I'm also attaching something you can post if you'd like.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) members volunteered at North Fayette Elementary's Fall Festival on Friday, 10/4. They served as concessions attendants, game truck attendants, bounce house attendants and even manned the petting zoo. This fulfills our monthly service challenge for October.

I wanted to inform you that the DPH has extended the Immunization Audit deadline to October 25, 2024, due to issues with the Georgia IMM registry.

Please send me the updated 3231 forms with the MCV4 information for your students as soon as possible, as I currently don’t have access to the GA registry to verify them. A copy of the form from your doctor is necessary for my records.

If any students are missing documentation, I will reach out to you via email.

Please provide the nurse with copies for your students Immunization records on the GA Form 3231. I also need a copy of your students' 3300 Form ( Hearing, Vision, Dental and Nutrition). Congratulations to Simon Morano for his first place overall in the Morehouse Math Competition! The Math Team was recognized at the Board Meeting last week for a terrific performance. Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Taylor have done an outstanding job with our scholars!

There will be a parent information meeting for anyone interested in playing baseball this upcoming season at Sandy Creek, the meeting will take place on October 10th in the media center at 6:30. Please contact Coach Carter in Room 106 for further details, see you there!

We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.

Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. About Notable Narratives:

NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help

Since our founding in August 2020:

• Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.

• 1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.

• 94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.

Next Steps:

Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.

The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.

• Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
• Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
• After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.
