The Viking Voice for Families
Week 38 - Week of May 26, 2024
Hello, Viking Families,
I hope you've enjoyed a fun & relaxing three-day weekend making memories with family & friends.
On this Memorial Day, I encourage us all to pause for a moment of gratitude & remembrance. Let's make time to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect each of us, our freedom, & our country. Let's also keep their families in our minds & hearts as well, especially if we are blessed to be spending extra time with ours this weekend.
Here are several reminders for this week:
- If you would like to complete the Family Input Survey for class rosters & feedback, please click here.
- Our teachers work as a grade level team to make the initial class rosters for the following school year before they leave for summer break.
- We then take those rosters & seek input from other stakeholders, such as our counselor, admin, CF, & family input from the survey above before finalizing rosters.
- I will leave the rosters drafted by our current staff for the new principal, but it is the new principal's decision to use those rosters or not.
3rd - 5th EOG Make Ups:
If your student was absent on Friday, May 24th, they will take the Reading EOG on Tuesday, May 28th.
- Please note that parents & visitors will not be allowed to visit school, volunteer, or have lunch with their children, pre-k through 5th grade, on the EOG testing dates down below.

All students/families in the Northwest/Northern Transportation Zone will have to re-apply for transportation for the 2024 – 2025 school year.
- Like last year, the Transportation Department will host in-person Transportation Fairs for families needing assistance with registration or that have general transportation questions. The below dates will be held at either Northern or Northwest High Schools; however, you can find other dates/locations throughout the county here.
The deadline to register to receive transportation for the first day of school is May 31, 2024. Families can apply using the 24-25 Transportation Preference Form.
