S-T-A-G Refresher
Staff and students at KMS will spend their first day back reviewing our school and classroom expectations as we discuss what it means to be a "STAG" at school. This will serve as a helpful reminder for everyone of what our common goals are and inspire us all to renew our commitment to displaying and celebrating the positive behaviors that make KMS a learning environment we can be proud of. Please take some time to discuss the expectations listed below with your child and encourage them to contribute to these shared goals as we return to school.

🌦️ I hope you had a restful and wonderful Christmas! This week in science we are starting the new year with our Weather and Water Unit. We will be exploring our local weather conditions. Students learn that weather occurs in the atmosphere and that the atmosphere is composed of air.
📊 We will collect data on atmospheric conditions such as temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity. We will use a particle model to compare a gas at standard pressure and a gas under increased pressure. Finally, students will be able to explain how experimental results provide evidence that air has mass.
☺️ Also, just an FYI, we will NOT be having a quiz this week.
Social Studies
🪵 This week, we will continue learning about land use around the world and explore how human activities impact the environment. Our discussions will focus on how using land and resources can lead to global issues like pollution and deforestation, as well as the steps people can take to protect and preserve the environment.
💯 Students will take a short, open-note quiz over these topics on Friday. Students will be encouraged to make sure their notes are up-to-date and complete! There will be no retake for this quiz and it will be the final major grade of the marking period.
📋 Students can access all lesson and study materials via Google Classroom any time. While students know that studying from their notes is ALWAYS the best way to prepare for quizzes, practice quizzes and games are also provided to mix things up!
