Message from Principal Haugens
Veterans Day! DuJardin School will be hosting a Veterans Day celebration tomorrow. We will have approximately 6 Veterans attend a luncheon with our Student Council representatives followed by a Q & A session in third - fifth grade classrooms. The event will conclude with a hallway appreciation parade for our Veterans.
Wall of Heroes: In honor of Veterans Day A Wall of Heroes is being created at DuJardin to recognize our Veterans. If you would like to honor a veteran you know, please fill out the attached Hero Form and return it to school as soon as possible.

There will be bins in the front of the school for the collection. Thank you for your help! Please see the flyer below for MSHV wishlist items.
Watch for students crossing the street: As we drive around DuJardin Elementary School and in the neighborhood, please be mindful of the students who are walking to and from school. We want our students to get to and from school safely.
Be respectful of our neighbors: When dropping students off or picking students up, please be respectful of our neighbors who are trying to enter/exit their driveways. We ask that parents not block driveways when waiting in line or parking to pick-up/drop-off students.
End of Trimester: The end of the first trimester is Friday, November 18, 2022. Report cards will be emailed to parents on Friday, December 9, 2022.
Spirit Day: Our next Spirit Day is next Friday, November 18th. Be BOLD and wear BLACK & GOLD.
Early Release Day: Our next Early Release Day is scheduled for Friday, November 18th. Students in first - fifth grade will be dismissed at 1:40 pm.

Lead Like a Jaguar
At DuJardin, we want students to become leaders who model a positive attitude (growth mindset), set and achieve positive goals, understand and manage emotions, show empathy for others, and make responsible decisions (solve problems). Teachers will be using the Second Step curriculum & other resources to help ensure our students #LeadLikeJaguars.
Focus for October 11th - December 12th: Emotional Management: Students learn how to build their emotion vocabularies, practice identifying their own and others’ emotions, and recognize the importance of labeling and managing emotions.

Message from Nurse Mills
Please contact the nurse at lmills@sd13.org if your child suffers from allergies, asthma or any other health issue. We do have events where food may be available to students. The school needs to be aware of food allergies to prevent and respond to any reaction. Your communication will help us better support your children.
If you chose to have your child tested for COVID while here at school a NEW consent form for this year must be filled out. Consent Form for Minor

By visiting the Illinois School Report Card Website parents can review school and district 3rd-5th grade data in regards to the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), state assessment. If your child(ren) are interested, have them draw and color a holiday card design on the included form. Students should have brought home a hard copy of this form as well. The card design should include holiday or winter theming. If your child chooses to participate, please have the design completed and turned into their classroom teacher by Wednesday, November 16th. A winner from each school will be chosen, and their artwork will be featured on the cover of a District 13 holiday card! Good luck!
