5th grade social studies curriculum adoption
This year Snohomish School District is in the process of a curricular resource adoption for 5th grade social studies. The purpose of this work is to ensure teachers have access to current and standards-aligned resources they can use to deliver high-quality social studies instruction to all students.
As part of the adoption process, we would like to invite you to review the materials the committee is recommending for adoption:
- Social Studies Alive! America’s Past by TCI – 5th Grade Social Studies
The materials are available at the Snohomish Resource and Service Center (1601 Avenue D in Snohomish) from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., April 17-28 in the Teaching & Learning Services Dept. or by appointment.
If you would like more information regarding the community review process, you may contact Monica Bauer, Executive Director of Teaching & Learning Services.
7th grade Tdap booster shot requirement
All students entering 7th grade must have a Tdap shot before they can start school in September 2023.
For students in 7th grade, the Tdap vaccine must be given at or after age 10 to be accepted for school entry. If your child is in 6th grade and already received this booster, their immunizations are complete. The middle school nurse may need medical verification when this vaccine was given. If your child receives this booster over the summer, please bring the record to the nurse at registration in August 2023. It is good to keep a copy of immunizations for your records.
Please note, the Tdap shot is different from the Td shot. If your child receives the Td shot, that vaccination is not in compliance with Washington immunization requirements, and they will need to receive the Tdap shot, as well, before the first day of school.
- Please click here for additional information about state vaccine requirements.
- Please click here to access the Washington State Department of Health Personal/Religious Certificate of Exemption.
Please remember, these immunizations are not just a good idea – they are required by Washington state law for school attendance.

Glacier Peak High School Theatre presents The Little Mermaid
Is it time to take a little journey under the sea? Come see the musical The Little Mermaid presented by theatre students at Glacier Peak High School (7401 144th Place SE in Snohomish).
- April 14, 15, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 at 7 p.m.
- April 15, 22 and 29 at 2 p.m.
In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World." Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.
Tickets for this amazing production are currently on sale. Purchase tickets online and please select performance date/time and seat at the time of purchase.
