Kindergarten registration now open! Secure your child’s spot today!
Attention parents and guardians, The time to enroll your little one in kindergarten for the upcoming school year is here!
As a reminder, children must be five years old by August 31 or earlier to be registered for kindergarten. We are excited to announce that Kindergarten Registration will begin on March 10, 2025 and continue until April 17, 2025.
LHS agricultural teacher receives William Frye Career and Technical Student Organization Award
The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) proudly announces that Candace Grimsley, an agriculture educator and Future Farmers of America (FFA) advisor at Public Schools of Robeson County, has been selected as the recipient of the William Frye Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Award.
This $1,000 award recognizes exceptional educators who demonstrate leadership in Career and Technical Education (CTE) through their work with CTSOs.
FFA Members Participate in FFA Legislative & Citizenship Day
Members from the Purnell Swett & Lumberton FFA Chapter participated in the FFA Legislative & Citizenship Day conducted by the North Carolina FFA Association on February 18, 2025.
Congratulations, PSRC Apex ACT Tutorials Champion Winners!
Congratulations to all the ACT Tutorials winners and participants who were celebrated today during special presentations at our schools! Your hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence have truly paid off. We look forward to seeing even greater success in the future as students continue to excel in the PSRC Apex ACT Tutorials Program.
To become a top student performer, students were required to complete at least 15 hours per subject, gain 50 points per subject, and complete four units per student. Teachers worked hard to ensure their students understood the contest and encouraged them to track their progress. The results speak for themselves, with many students showing significant improvement and a strong commitment to their academic growth.
J.H. Hayswood Class of 1960 donates funding to Lumberton Junior High, W.H. Knuckles Elementary schools
A historic moment took place during the February meeting of the Public Schools of Robeson County Board of Education when the last donation from the J.H. Hayswood High School Class of 1960 was made to two local schools.
Lumberton FFA members earn top honors at state tractor and truck driving competitions
Lumberton FFA members Isaac Simmons and Chase Lowry earned top placements at the State Tractor and Truck Driving Career Development Events (CDE) held recently at the Southern Farm Show in Raleigh.
PSRC, UNC Health Southeastern partner to provide sports physicals for student-athletes
Local student-athletes will soon benefit from a partnership between the Public Schools of Robeson County and UNC Health Southeastern as they receive sports physicals in May.

Miracle at Purnell Swett High School: Staff Helps Save Child’s Life in Life-Threatening Emergency
What seemed like an ordinary day at Purnell Swett High School soon turned to a life-saving moment when a local father rushed in with his child, who had turned blue from lack of oxygen recently.
Thanks to the quick actions of several dedicated staff members, the child, who had stopped breathing, was given immediate lifesaving aid. Later, after receiving medical care, then 4-year-old Brystol Dial made a full recovery.
PSRC students earn multiple top awards at National Beta Club State Conventions
PSRC students earned top awards during the recent National Beta Club State Conventions at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
Students from various schools within the district competed with other students across North Carolina for top awards in various categories. The events included team competitions and individual showcases.
All students who placed at the state convention events have the opportunity to compete at the National Beta Competition in June in Orlando, Florida.
Communities in Schools Students at Prospect Elementary Explore STEM and Food Science on Educational Field Trip Made Possible through Community Partnerships
Nineteen students from Prospect Elementary School enjoyed an exciting educational excursion recently as part of a positive behavior and attendance incentive reward, thanks to the sponsorship of the Emerging Technology Institute.

Student transfer requests for the upcoming school year will be accepted until April 1, 2025.
Notification regarding requests will be sent in mid to late June.

Join our Parental Advisory Committee!
This is your invitation to join our District Parental Advisory Committee, affectionately known as the "Robeson County P.A.C."
Our Parental Advisory Committee will represent the voice of PSRC parents/caregivers and students in our district. Collectively and individually, this committee will act as a sounding board and resource for our district's initiative to build and maintain family-school partnerships in alignment with the strategic plan and our Title I Parent and Family Engagement Plan.
The role of the committee is to provide advice and assistance to the district regarding any matter relating to programs and services in order to help the district attain its goal of providing all students with the best education possible. It will also serve to inform, encourage, and provide opportunities for parents and community members to be involved in the planning and improvement process.
