Seasonal Showcase
Members of the Memorial Middle School sixth grade choir and seventh and eighth grade choir performed three times this week in the community. On Sunday, they had a performance sponsored by the Alfred Baumann Library in Municipal Chambers. On Monday, they visited the Summit Health building on McBride Avenue to sing for the Golden Years senior group. On Monday evening, seventh and eighth grade choir members sang at the Board of Education meeting (below). And finally, next week, they will perform for the Woodland Park Senior Club in addition to their annual Winter Concert.
Showing Off Their Progress
The members of the fifth grade beginner band at Beatrice Gilmore School performed Wednesday morning for family and friends to showcase their progress in learning their instruments.
Environmental Lessons
The Early Childhood Center had a special visitor from the Passaic County Environmental Office, who came to talk to the students about recycling and keeping our environment safe and clean. There was a demonstration of what can be recycled and what cannot. Students were excited to be a part of this program!
Kindness Wall
Here is a picture of Beatrice Gilmore School's Growing Wall of Kindness where teachers and staff members recognize each other for doing something kind both inside and outside of the classroom!
Talking Tiers
Teachers at Memorial, Beatrice Gilmore, and Charles Olbon joined in for a three-day training session with a focus on Tier 2/WIN period for classroom teachers. ML teachers and interventionists were able to meet for training and conversations about how they fit into this NJTSS process. The teachers had great conversations with the interventionists, where they discussed Tier 3 intervention, caseload size, data, and creating intervention plans with data specific goals.
Outgoing BOE Member Saluted
At Monday evening's Board of Education meeting, trustee MaryAnn Perro was saluted by Dr. Pillari and the Board, as it was the final meeting of her term. She leaves the board after nine years of service, in which position she served with diligence, dedication, and distinction for the benefit of the School District and all of the children. "Mrs. Perro and I have been working together for her entire service here," Dr. Pillari said. "She always, always, always put the children first. Always thinking of what is in the best interest of the children, and what can we do even more in servicing the community."
