This week are working on fractions of a set and multiplying fractions! Students completed their iReady growth monitoring check on Monday. Updates will be sent via text. This week students are testing physical properties of matter. Students will answer the question if matter can disappear when we do not see it. We will be investigating changes in matter as students ask themselves the question: Do the weights of materials change when they melt?

Esta semana, los estudiantes están poniendo a prueba las propiedades físicas de la materia. Los estudiantes responderán a la pregunta de si la materia puede desaparecer cuando no la vemos. Investigaremos los cambios en la materia mientras los estudiantes se preguntan: ¿Cambian los pesos de los materiales cuando se funden?

Our study of the Civil War continues, with a special focus on the important contributions of two remarkable women: Harriet Tubman and Harriet Beecher Stowe. Students are exploring how each Harriet played a vital role in advancing the cause of freedom and justice—Tubman through her courageous work with the Underground Railroad, and Beecher Stowe through her powerful anti-slavery novel *Uncle Tom’s Cabin*. By examining their efforts, students are learning about the diverse ways people contributed to social change during this critical period in history. Ask your child about what they’ve learned about these two inspiring figures!

Nuestro estudio de la Guerra Civil continúa, con un enfoque especial en las importantes contribuciones de dos mujeres notables: Harriet Tubman y Harriet Beecher Stowe. Los estudiantes están explorando cómo cada Harriet jugó un papel vital en el avance de la causa de la libertad y la justicia: Tubman a través de su valiente trabajo con el Ferrocarril Subterráneo, y Beecher Stowe a través de su poderosa novela antiesclavista *La cabaña del tío Tom*. Our upcoming Project-Based Learning (PBL) project is underway! Students will be using their knowledge of the Civil War to explore how community members can effectively voice their concerns to leaders and work through conflicts peacefully before issues escalate. This project encourages students to connect history to present-day civic engagement, learning how thoughtful dialogue and advocacy can make a difference in communities. We can’t wait to share our projects with you! Keep a lookout for our PBL showcase date—coming soon!
