We've had a fantastic week at South Lakewood Elementary! Our students have been showing incredible grit and determination in their work, tackling challenges with focus and perseverance. It's been inspiring to see their commitment to learning and growth!

As we wrap up another week, we want to remind our families about the upcoming Family Fall Festival on Saturday, October 26th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This fun-filled event will include games, food, and activities for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating the season together!

SLE Family Fall Festival!

Our Family Fall Festival is on Saturday, October 26th from 10:00a-1:00p on the SLE Playground. We will have games for families, treats and lots of FUN! This event is open to all and we look forward to coming together as a COMMUNITY! Kids (and adults!) can wear costumes to the event (school appropriate please!).

Volunteers Needed for Fall Festival!

Rock Your Socks! Celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month!

Did you know October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month? To celebrate and spread awareness, we are encouraging everyone to join us by wearing crazy socks on Tuesday, October 29th. Crazy socks have become a symbol of embracing and celebrating differences, and by participating, we can show our support for individuals with Down syndrome. Let’s all come together, rock our fun socks, and help promote inclusion and understanding in our community!

Halloween Parties

We will be having a Halloween parade and party on Thursday, October 31st beginning at 1:30p. Your child is welcome to bring their costume that day. Students will start changing into their costumes at 1:15p. In the past, some of the students have worn their costumes over their clothes to make the change easier for them. Costumes should be school appropriate and NOT promote violence (ex: no blood, weapons, etc.)

We will have healthy treats and sweet treats at the parties, however, we ask that these are individually wrapped for students to take home and enjoy after the party. Also, we are asking for donations of candy, Halloween trinkets (i.e. bookmarks, pencils, erasers, etc.) for students to take home at the end of the day. Please send any donations into your child’s classroom by Tuesday, October 29th.

For those families who would like to opt out of the Halloween Party, we will have a fall craft for students to enjoy during the parade and party. Please let your child’s teacher know if you would like to opt your child out of the parade and party.

All families are welcome to come and enjoy the parade and party! Meet on the blacktop at 1:30p (weather permitting). The parade will start at 1:30p, and conclude on the blacktop around 1:40p. After the parade is finished, please join your students in their classroom for the party!

Veteran's Day Assembly

South Lakewood Elementary invites all Veterans & current members of the

Armed Forces to join us as our honored guests for our annual Veteran’s Day Assembly,

presented by our 3rd grade students on Monday November 11th, 1:30 p.m.

Honored guests will be seated in a special area and are encouraged to wear hats, badges, and/or uniforms to commemorate their branch of service.

Special photo request:

At South Lakewood it is important to us to honor family members, friends, & community members who are currently serving, or have served, in the armed forces. Mrs. Short will be working to update our annual slideshow, which will be presented during the program. Please include the Veteran/Service Member’s name, branch of service, and what SLE student(s) they're connected to in your correspondence (for example: Michael Champan, US Army, Grandpa of Camden Short).

Send photos to Mrs. Short by no later than Friday November 1st and should be submitted electronically.

SLE Yearbook Cover Contest!

We are looking for South Lakewood Elementary artists to design a custom cover for our yearbook this year! All 3rd , 4th , and 5th grade students are invited to submit an entry. Create a cover that shows how much you LOVE South Lakewood! Graphic designs from a computer ARE allowed! The winning entry will appear on the front cover, and the winning artist will receive a FREE yearbook!!! The entries of the 4 runners-up will appear on the back cover of the yearbook.

Milk Tops for Moolah!

We are partnering with Longmont Dairy to collect milk caps. For every milk cap, our school earns $.05. If you or anyone you know uses Longmont Dairy, please save the milk caps and donate to SLE. Thank you!
