Mrs. Smith's Weekly Newsletter

A Message from Mrs. Smith...
Picture day is Tuesday. You can find details further down in this communication. All students will have their portrait taken even if you choose not to purchase photos.
The first trimester ends on Friday, November 15. Parent access to Genesis will close that day so teachers can begin entering grades for report cards. Report cards will be available to all K-8 parents on Wednesday, November 27 through Genesis when the parent portal is reopened by the Diocese of Trenton.
All parents of children in any grade are encouraged to come to OLGC on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm for an important presentation. Paul Sanfrancesco will speak about navigating the digital age and the impact of social media and AI on student well-being. Mr. Sanfrancesco will speak to our students in grades 4-8 that afternoon.
God Bless,
Mrs. Smith
A Message from Fr. Jim...
SERVICE HOURS
Dear Parents,
As we come toward the end of the First Trimester, I have reviewed the reported Service Hours for our students. Many have done quite a few, but some have done none, or perhaps they simply haven't been entered? Please remember that parents or guardians should enter service hours as your children complete them. You can access the SERVICE HOURS FORM here.
A couple of housekeeping details however, based on the entries that have been made so far: first, be sure that you are entering your child's name, not your own! Especially when a family may have multiple children, it is difficult to sort the hours when it is a parent's first name.
Second, be sure to enter only numbers in the "hours" box on the form. Enter, for example, "1.5" not "1 and one half".
Third, hours entered should be for service in the first trimester only, which began with our start of school on September 5th. For students who are altar servers or choir members, serving at weekend Masses count as hours, but not if you served at only a school Mass where you were obligated to be in attendance; also, if you are just training as an altar server, the training time counts as service, since that was done outside of the school day.
Thanks for caring for others, and serving one another! Jesus said, "Whatever you do for one of these least brothers of mine, that you do for Me!"
- Fr. Jim
