February Principal Update
Dear Griffis Families,
Happy February! We want to take a moment to thank you for a wonderful start to the new year. Griffis is truly a great place to be, and that is because of our incredible students, dedicated staff, supportive PTO, and amazing parents like you!
As we step into February, let's make it a month filled with kindness and love. Small acts of appreciation can go a long way in making someone’s day. Griffis Daddy/Daughter Dance
Please Join Us for our Third Annual Father-Daughter Dance
Theme: Now and Forever
Date: February 7th
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Location: Griffis Elementary School
Pre-K through 4th grade Lee and Griffis daughters are invited to join us for a magical night celebrating the special bond between fathers (or guardians) and daughters.
Whether you’re sharing a moment with your father, grandfather, uncle or another important guardian, this evening is all about making lasting memories.
We can’t wait to celebrate “Now and Forever” with you!
Due to increased requests, we have decided to do an RSVP with a Venmo option for the dance. This will also help our awesome vendors prepare. We are so excited to have dinner options from Sweeney BBQ, refreshing lemonade from Honey Bee Lemonade AND permanent jewelry from Hey Honey!!!

Let's Glow Griffis Celebrations
We are excited to continue our monthly student recognitions with our GLOW Griffis Celebrations! Students that are receiving an award for that month will be invited by their child's teacher. These will be quick celebrations right after announcements. We are excited to start this at Griffis this year.
Lunch on the Lawn
Lunch on the Lawn: February 7th
Due to safety concerns and the amount of visitors we experience on Lunch on the Lawn days we are needing to make some adjustments. Please plan ahead accordingly.
- NO LATE RSVP SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ALLOWED.
- Each person joining for Lunch on the Lawn will need their own RSVP
- Signing in on the day of the event will NOT be permitted.
- Only RSVP guests will be allowed to join.
- Fast Pass Holders: RSVP is still required because we must run your name through Raptor. Your Fast Pass badge will count as your visitor sticker!
- Visitor stickers will be in your student's Thursday Folder
NEW this year: ALL Visitors must have a visitor sticker to access the soccer fields. Please plan to arrive early, there will be traffic. Friends of your student are not allowed to eat lunch with you. Only your student(s) that you are visiting.
Early sign outs after lunch are not recommend and will be an unexcused absence. Unexcused sign outs consequences:
- First Offense – warning
- Second Offense – warning and notification
- Third Offense – lunch detention and notification
- Fourth Offense – morning school and phone call home RSVP using the link below.
CAPTURING KIDS' HEART
COUNSELOR CORNER
Each month, we will focus on a particular character trait. Mrs. Wygal will give daily announcements regarding that trait to help the students put it into action. Each month, teachers will be looking for positive referrals from their class that they feel has best demonstrated the monthly trait. The trait for the month of February is Uniqueness. Also, please see the monthly parent newsletter below.

8:00 Tardy Bell/ Class Starts

Students not in the building by the 8:00 A.M. bell are considered tardy. Please refer to our campus handbook regarding our tardy policy. If your child is tardy, please do not drop your child off. For their safety, your child should be signed in. Please come to the front to sign them in.
Transportation
Parents - you can access bus route information 3 ways:
1. Download the Stopfinder App
2. Go to the district website to the transportation home page
3. Check Skyward under the transportation tab

Caddo Mills ISD CHILD Nutrition

AlphaBEST After-School Program
Watch D.O.G.S Program
We are excited to continue this program with Griffis Elementary PTO this coming this year!
The Watch D.O.G.S. Program brings male role models such as dads, stepdads, grandpas, uncles, etc. into the school for the betterment of the school, the students, and the community!!
Are you interested or know someone who may be?
We ask for a commitment of a partial or full school day just ONCE per year! Of course, you can volunteer more often!
More information on how to volunteer and our Kick Off meeting will be posted at a later time.
