From the Principal
Copeland families,
It's hard to believe that we are already in the second nine weeks and that it is November! This year is flying by! Thank you to Coach Linhart, Coach DeLeon, our wonderful PTO, and awesome volunteers for making our field days a success! It was hot, but as I was reminded, it was not May hot! The students had a blast! Thank you!
I am happy to announce that our Copeland Colts hit the 95% attendance goal for the first nine weeks with 96.1% in attendance! Way to go, Colts! Keep up the good work!
As a reminder, all students are off November 4th and 5th. November 5th is also Election Day. Please be sure to exercise your right to vote! We are looking forward to our 5th grade choir performing at Langham Creek's Ace Ladies' Night on Wednesday, November 6th at 6:00. This is always such a fun event, and we love to hear our choir perform. We hope you can join us!
We look forward to celebrating our Veterans on Monday, November 11th at 2:00 pm. If you have served, or have someone in your family who has served, please join us as we celebrate our Veterans!
Lastly, our Thanksgiving break will be the week of November 25th-29th. There is so much to be thankful for this time of year. It is always nice to be able to slow down and spend time with family and friends. I am so thankful for our staff, students, and our wonderful community. I feel truly blessed to be part of such an amazing school!

Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department & CFPD Visit Copeland's Pre-K
On Tuesday, October 15, Fire fighters from Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department Station 8 brought out Heavy Rescue 5 to show our Pre-K students their equipment and talk about safety. Students heard about the safety gear that fire fighters wear to protect themselves, the equipment they used in emergencies and when to call 911. The students were also reminded that fire fighters are safe and that they protect and rescue people, so there is no reason to be afraid of them or hide from them in an emergency.
On Thursday, October 17, K9 Officer Mayo brought Astra to meet our Pre-K students. Astra is an 8 year old female Belgian Malinois who was born in Poland and brought to the United States in 2018 by Pacesetter K-9.
Copeland Colts Participate in Field Day
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, October 23rd - 35th, Coach Linhart and Coach DeLeon led our Colts in a fun athletic competition! We had races, kicked balls, balanced, hopped and spun our way through contest after contest. The winners for each grade level were:
Kindergarten - Ms. Lopez' class
1st - Ms. Duncan's class
2nd - Ms. Dereoun's class
3rd - Ms. Humphrey's class
4th - Ms. Sauceda's class
5th - Ms. Sanders' class
The Copeland Library - Our Colts Love Books!
Mother Goose Visits the Copeland Library
Mother Goose spent the morning with our Pre-K and Kinder students on Friday, October 11.
Book Club Holds First Meeting of the Year
On October 24th, the Copeland Library hosted the first Book Club of the year! Readers from 3rd, 4th & 5th grades read The International House of Deriliction, by Jacqueline Davies and met together to discuss character, setting, foreshadowing and symbolism. We love showing our emerging readers how much fun it is to immerse themselves in a good story!
