Teacher Feature
Adrienne Fritz
This month, we are thrilled to highlight one of our amazing educators, Ms. Fritz! Her students describe her as "helpful to everyone – all you have to do is ask, and she will do anything." They also say she's "patient, kind, and an amazing singer," with a poetic touch to her teaching style, often using quotes to inspire and connect with her students.
Ms. Fritz embodies the qualities of a truly exceptional educator. When faced with the challenge of taking over a self-contained 4th-grade classroom after already being a month into the school year, she accepted it with a positive attitude and unwavering commitment. Even when asked to move to the portable for more space, she did so with grace and flexibility.
She is organized and patient and always prioritizes her students' needs. Ms. Fritz's nurturing approach ensures that every student feels valued and supported, while her dedication sets an incredible example for her students and peers. Her kindness and passion for education shine through in everything she does, and we are so grateful to have her as part of our Anna ISD family.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month
It is an unfortunate reality that there are children from all socioeconomic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds who have been (or are currently) exposed to violent behavior in the home. This violence may be verbal, physical, or emotional towards another parent, another child, or to themselves. Although some children may not show obvious signs of stress, domestic violence can have a significant, negative impact on children’s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development, including:
- Moodiness and poor control over emotions
- Unpredictable and impulsive behavior
- Intense reactions to reminders of traumatic events
- Thinking others are violating their personal space
- Blowing up when being corrected or told what to do by an authority figure
- Fighting when criticized or teased by others
- Resisting transition or change
- Intense reactions to reminders of traumatic events
- Decreased attention span, memory, and cognitive ability
- Reading deficiencies
- Skipping or avoiding school
- Substance abuse
- Unhealthy relationships
The good news is that most children who have experienced domestic violence can heal. A strong relationship with a caring, nonviolent parent or caregiver is the most critical factor in creating resiliency. As a parent, you can promote safety and healing by:
- Taking steps to increase safety
- Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 to speak with an advocate who can help with safety planning.
- Call 911 if you or your children are in danger.
- Processing your own emotions and taking care of yourself
- Setting routines at home - children feel more secure with consistency.
- Setting limits with clear, nonviolent, and consistent consequences
- Praising positive and safe behavior and decisions
- Helping your kids develop relationships with other supportive adults.
- Encouraging them in school or other activities that build their confidence
