Counselors' Corner
CAHS Counselors visited 12th-grade students last week during their English 4 AP/DC course to discuss post-secondary planning. The objective is to help students transition to life after high school, so information about transcripts, letters of recommendation, and other pertinent information was discussed with students.
Unity Day
Unity Day is a day in October when we all unite and advocate for a more just world.
On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, CAHS students, faculty, and staff were invited to wear and share the color orange color symbolizing safety, visibility, and protection. This color has been selected as a representation of the supportive, universal message that our society wants to prevent bullying, and is united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. (www.pacer.org) Promote Unity Day and join us to ensure we all live in a world of kindness .
During Unity Day, October 16, 2024, CAHS students participated in raising awareness of kindness and inclusion. They eagerly completed a poster-size word search wall puzzle with Unity Day keywords such as respect, inclusion, kindness, acceptance, compassion, etc… In addition, CAHS students received their own personal-size copy of the word search puzzle, which stirred discussion amongst themselves about what kindness and inclusion mean to them.

AP Program
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond. Taking AP courses demonstrates to college admissions officers that students have sought the most challenging curriculum available to them, and research indicates that students who score a 3 or higher on an AP Exam typically experience greater academic success in college and are more likely to earn a college degree than non-AP students.
