Brahma Briefing
Week 21 - January 19 - 22, 2021
Welcome to Week 21
Hello Brahma Parents & Guardians,
Welcome to Week 21.
On Monday, our school was closed as we honored the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This Federal Holiday honors Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy and is celebrated in a variety of ways including speeches, parades and presentations. You probably read many quotes from Dr. King that he spoke as he practiced non-violent pursuit of justice. A quote of Dr. King that has recently stirred me is "The time is always right to do what is right." Distance Learning creates unique challenges to our concept of time, and I am encouraged by Dr. King's words that bring about positive action. I hope you are also inspired by Dr. King to "Do right."
Important Reminders:
- January 25 - Yearbook Selfie Due (For those who missed their Yearbook Photo)
- February 5 - Year Book Senior Ads Due
Best Regards,
Reuben Jones
Principal

Special Update - PSAT/NMSQT School Day Administration - January 26, 2021
Diamond Bar High School will not be giving the January 2021 PSAT/NMSQT this year. We had postponed it from the October 2020 date in the hopes that the COVID situation would be better by this time, but as you all know, the situation has worsened. Hospitals are at full capacity or beyond, Los Angeles County is still in the purple tier for COVID cases, and giving the test is not a safe option right now. While we wanted to provide this opportunity for our students, the health and safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance, and so we will not administer the PSAT/NMSQT on January 26, 2021.
All students who were signed-up for the PSAT will be mailed a refund check.
There is no other date for the PSAT/NMSQT this year, but students who are interested in qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship can still qualify through an alternate method. A student would have to take an official administration of the SAT between August 2020 and June 2021, request that College Board SAT Program send an official report of your SAT scores to NMSC (code 0085), and then visit https://forms.nationalmerit.org/alternateentry immediately to complete the Alternate Entry Form. You cannot be considered in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program unless you complete this online form no later than Thursday, April 1, 2021.
Students who are interested in preparing for the SAT can do so for free via Khan Academy practice sessions on College Board’s website - https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/practice.
