January 16, 2025
~ Notes From Mrs. Richardson ~
Today's newsletter features our 2024-2025 Principal for the day, Tessa Tari! Tessa won the honor by participating in our Teacher Tree raffle at Winter Fest! We spent the day visiting classrooms, giving out Golden Tickets and helping students choose reward books from the book vending machine! I'm so grateful for this opportunity to spend a little one on one time with one of our Mustangs!
Next week we will host our 2nd Mustang Meetup for parents. Our Meet Up is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22 at 6:00 pm. This meeting will be held at the clubhouse at Wildwood Springs. The address is 11755 Wildwood Springs Dr. Roswell, GA 30075. At this meeting we will discuss assessments in Fulton County Schools, how to understand them, how they are used at the school level and how to best help prepare your child for success. I hope you can join us and that the evening time is more convenient for our families.
Please note, Semester 1 report cards come home today! Please be on the lookout. When reviewing report cards with your children, it's important to discuss their actions, study habits, strengths and areas of growth. What actions have helped them meet their goals? What types of actions may help them in areas they'd like to improve? While grades are certainly important, we believe it is equally important to discuss the effort placed into achieving those grades. Our staff is here for any questions you may have.

Georgia FIT Testing
Hello parents and guardians,
As per the county requirement, all students in first through fifth grade will be measured for height and weight. These measurements are taken discreetly, and the results are not shared with anyone, not even the student. Students in 4th and 5th only will be tested on a battery of four tests that measure muscle strength and endurance (curl-ups and push-ups), flexibility (sit and reach) and cardiovascular endurance (PACER test). Please be assured that your students are familiar with these tests, as we practice them every week throughout the year.
Testing will begin after the MLK holiday and continue throughout March as needed.
Please send any questions or concerns to:

Career Day @ MPE
We are excited to announce our upcoming Career Day for MPES is March 7th. This event aims to expose students to a variety of career paths. On this day, students in grades K-2 have the opportunity to explore Careers on Wheels and students in grades 3-5 will participate in a Career Fair. To make this event successful, we are seeking volunteers to share their professional experiences and insights with our students. If you’re interested in contributing your time and expertise, please reach out to Mrs. Daniel by email at danielc3@fultonschools.org. We look forward to a great Career Day for our students and hope that you can join us!

From the Media Center:
The media center is looking for 2 regularly scheduled volunteers for January through April 18th. The time slots needed are every Monday from 8:45-9:45 and every Friday from 8:45-9:45. This slot is very important because this is the time for our 1st grade special and it is very busy in the media center. We need help checking books out to the 1st graders along with helping other students from other grade levels find books and check out. In addition, there will be books that require shelving. If you know your way around a computer and are interested in helping us out on a weekly basis for 1 hour, please contact Vicky Jaksic, media specialist, at jaksicv@fultonschools.org.
School Attendance Communication
When your child is absent from school due to illness or an appointment, please be sure to send an excuse note to mpeattendance@fultonschools.org. This will ensure our attendance office receives your excuse and can update your student's record accordingly. Remember that teachers can only mark students absent or present and cannot update absences. Absences will be updated within a few days of the excuse note being sent. I realize that the attendance letters detailing number of days absent can be unsettling. Please note that these are sent automatically from the district. Although they do have my name in the signature line, they are not from me. I do not send them or know when they are being sent. I am happy to help clear up any discrepancies found in your child's attendance record. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time for assistance at richardsona3@fultonschools.org.

If for some reason you have not registered with Pick Up Patrol and need a registration link, please send an email to Shannon Anderson at Andersons5@fultonschools.org. Remember, you must submit all transportation changes using the app. The default transportation will be how they normally go home. If your student normally goes home a certain way, there’s no need to enter it on that day. Plan changes are only for when it differs from the default plan. Also, if you need a carpool or walker number, email andersons5@fultonschools.org or call the front office. Thanks so much!

Creative Minds Club
In the Creative Minds Art Club, we champion the artist in everyone. Our mission is to inspire confidence in artistry and reveal the magic of creation.
Students will come into a WORKING ARTIST STUDIO where they will learn techniques for their OWN creations. Some projects will be teacher-led, but the goal is to allow students to find their inspiration and create from there — we value process and experimentation over final products, because that’s where real learning and creativity lie.
Classes are limited to 10 so that each student receives 1:1 time working on their projects.
In the Creative Minds Art Club, it’s more than just an art project, you'll leave with a sense of accomplishment and newfound confidence. Link - https://paulambrett.com/creativeminds-art-club
