The River Hawk
Rio Norte News - August 12, 2022
A Note from Principal Bennett
What an incredible first week of school! We are so happy to have our students back on campus, excited about the year ahead. I had the pleasure of talking to so many happy students this week and while some of them weren't happy to be getting up in the morning again, every student I spoke to said they liked their team and their teachers.
There has been fantastic energy on campus all week and our teachers and staff have been busy doing all they can to make each student's start to school a great one! We appreciate all of your support and look forward to welcoming parents onto campus at Back to School Night, Thursday, September 1st at 6:30 p.m. More details will come soon.
This week all 8th grade students and half of our 7th grade students have listened to our Assistant Principals, Mr. Flores and Ms. August, in PE Talks where they have been laying out the expectations for students on campus and in our community when they are visiting our neighboring businesses. They also spoke to students about our S.O.A.R motto:
Strive for success
Own our actions
Accept differences
Respect others
The 2nd half of the 7th grade will listen to this presentation in their PE class on Monday. Additionally, I had the opportunity to address all of our River Hawks through RioTV. Scroll below to see the episode. You can also visit https://www.riotvonline.com/ each school day to see RioTV's latest broadcast.
We hope your students have come home excited to tell you about their day! Not getting much information out of them? Instead of asking, "How was your day?" where you might get short, or even one word answers, ask them to tell you about three things that happened in their day.
Yesterday or today each student that had their binder reminder received their "House" shirt. Each 7th grade team is paired with an 8th grade team to form a "House." Students are either in Blue, Red, or Purple house. If your student didn't have their binder reminder, they can bring it Monday and get their house shirt. Students were also able to pick-up a free COVID Test home kit today. Please have your student come to the office if they missed this opportunity.
We wish you a fantastic weekend and look forward to seeing all of our River Hawks back on Monday!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bennett
