The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and scholarships for high school students. Students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT Test (PSAT). The Semifinalists are the highest-scoring entrants in their state (more info below). Diamond Bar High School is proud to recognize our nine National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists (see photo below).

9 National Merit Scholar Semi-finalists Named

Congratulations to the nine Brahmas named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

The semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program — about 16,000 high school students, representing less than 1% of U.S. seniors — were announced on Sept. 11, 2024.

The semifinalists, from the graduating class of 2025, qualified based on their scores on the Preliminary SAT. About 95 percent are expected to attain finalist standing on the strength of an application detailing academic performance, school and community activities, and employment.

About half the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, to be announced in the spring.

UC/CSU Application Night

Students that will be applying to University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) are invited to attend our information session on Monday, October 7th at 5:30 in the DBHS Theater. We will have college admissions counselors from UC Irvine and CSU Fullerton coming to give insightful presentations, followed by a Q&A session.
