Blackbird Elementary School is now taking applications for 4 year olds for Blackbird Preschool on Tuesday, March 11, 2019. Please call 231.526.4600 to secure an appointment.

Please bring the following to your appointment:

• Child's birth certificate
• Child Immunization Records
• Proof of income (Tax return w/ W-2, Child support, Unemployment, SSI)

• Medical/dental information
  

*Your family may be eligible for tuition free preschool.

Please let me know if you are interested in helping to provide some dinner items to have for our teachers on conference nights March 13th and 14th. I am hoping to have one coordinator for each building to help facilitate. If you can help please email me at jdrader@harborps.org.

Over the last couple of months we have been talking about identifying feelings and some strategies to use when our feelings get big using the Second Step Curriculum 3 steps:

1. Stop

2. Name your feeling

3. Calm Down.

Ask you student about Belly Breathing and have them teach it to you!!

We are excited to show the Inside Out movie today for both schools to continue to help them learn about recognizing their different feelings. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it as a family movie with lots of discussion points.

We kicked off our month of Kindness by enrolling our school in the Great Kindness Challenge.

At our first assemblies we shared these videos:

Check them out! We want to promote not just planned acts of Kindness but mostly Random Acts of Kindness.

The snow days may have set us back a bit but each school had a goal of at least 400 hearts representing acts of kindness. We have some work to do for this last week of February to meet our goal...

Please encourage your student to spread kindness and to notice kindness in them and others!

Dear Families and Staff of Harbor Springs,

The freshman student council members are selling RAM FAN shirts. We are

starting to raise money for our sophomore year so we can plan many fun events.

We are selling, short sleeve shirts for $12, long sleeve shirt for $15, and sweatshirt for

$35. All of the styles will be dark grey with white detailing.

To purchase a shirt, please fill out the order form at the bottom of the page and bring in the money and the form to your school’s office by Friday, March 15th.

There will also be additional forms available in the office.
