School Halloween Costumes
What is cultural appropriation? Cultural appropriation is the unacknowledged or inappropriate adoption of an element or elements of one culture or identity by members of another culture or identity. This can be controversial when members of a dominant culture appropriate from marginalized cultures.
Here are some other costume reminders and a video HERE that may provide more context:
This time of year is exciting for students and families. Thank you in advance for being sensitive to all members of our Heritage and Saline community, while honoring and affirming diverse cultures.

My Future Fund
1st-7th grade students attending a public school - like Heritage - automatically receive a My Future Fund account that includes $25 to start their savings for college and career training. Families of 2nd-6th graders should be on the lookout for their students’ My Future Fund Account login information via email on October 4.
A parent/guardian of students in grades 1st-7th should complete the Info Form by November 30, 2024, if they haven’t already, to be included in the spring deposit cycle. If you do not want your student to participate you must complete an opt-out form.
Heritage is a proud partner of the My Future Fund program, which is operated by the Washtenaw Intermediate School District in collaboration with Washtenaw County Government. Please, visit www.myfuturefund.org for more information or attend an upcoming webinar:

Foundation For Saline Area Schools News:
Hornets Helping Hornets
Every once in a while, a Saline Area Schools family needs just a little bit of extra help. When that happens, we want to make it easy for other families to fulfill that need without knowing who the need is for. These needs will include such things as coats, boots, snacks, gas cards, lunch money, etc...
To learn more and view the needs, simply sign up to be on the weekly email distribution list here. This is a very easy way to help out fellow SAS community members!
Thank you for caring about our Saline Area Schools families! Questions? You can reach us at salinehornetshelpinghornets@gmail.com.
