GRAD CLAS NOTES
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Graduate Newsletter
A Heartfelt Congratulations!
I want to express my utmost respect and heartfelt congratulations to our Class of 2021 graduates! Last spring your studies and lives were upended as a wave of anxiety and uncertainty crashed over our world. This year, while we struggled to maintain some sense of normalcy, you persisted through the ups and downs of the pandemic and the political and civil unrest that seized our country. It was not easy. It was not OK. But you did it. You are graduating from Villanova University. I know that you are prepared to face any challenges that confront you in your careers and lives. As alumni, Villanova will be here for you. The bonds you formed with each other and with your professors, even if through Zoom meetings and virtual events, will continue to support you. Please stay connected to the Nova Network. Villanova is built on community. That doesn't end after you graduate.
As we approach Graduate Commencement, I have been able to participate in many of the traditional end-of-year activities that mark the conclusion of the academic year. Many virtual, but some in person, these events remind me of the importance of reflecting on the work we have done and celebrating our successes. We all deserve it! I look forward to being with you on Saturday as you walk across the stage or see your photo and hear your name as you join the ceremony virtually. It is difficult to express how proud I am of you.
For my colleagues in the Office of Graduate Studies, congratulations to our graduates! Thank you for all you have done to enrich the Villanova community and advance the pursuit of knowledge in our world.

Interdisciplinary Course Offerings This Summer
This summer, our campus-based students have the opportunity to keep up with their graduate studies even if far from campus by taking online classes. Most graduate courses this summer are being offered online, and some on-campus courses may accommodate remote learning. If you are one of our campus-based graduate students in CLAS, you are permitted to take up to six credits in another discipline within the college (pending approval by your program director). Below you will find a list of graduate courses being offered this summer across the college that have been identified as courses that lend themselves particularly well to interdisciplinary study. Perhaps your graduate program does not offer many summer courses in the summer or you are interested in dipping your toe in another field! Please review the below list and others in the master schedule and if you are interested in taking such a course consult with your program director prior to registering.
