CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
I want to thank you all for your participation in our parent-teacher conferences this week. As usual, we had an excellent turnout in the number of conferences that were held. Success for students occurs when parents and teachers communicate. These opportunities build trusting relationships that create positive learning experiences. At WCS, we value these relationships.
Thank you,
Mr. Libby
THE WCS AUCTION: NEXT SATURDAY
Get ready, the WCS 8th Grade Auction is happening next Saturday, 4/5 from 5-8pm at the Woolwich Central School. We have over items up for bid in both a live and a silent auction. There will be free, delicious snacks, and child care onsite while you "shop." Stop by to bid and see some friends, while supporting our wonderful 8th grade class in their effort to get to Washington, D.C.
C.H.O.I.C.E.S. PRE-K
New for the 2025-2026 School Year: C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Pre-K will offer a digital Open House and earlier lottery application process beginning April 1, 2025
GRADE 2 VISITS THE MAINE MARITIME MUSEUM
This Tuesday, second graders got to tour the new Chris Van Dusen exhibit at the Maine Maritime Museum, which was a huge treat after reading all of his books. Museum staffer, Allie, then led students in a program about coastal transportation. They built an old schooner, navigated coastal waters, learned about jobs on a ship, and how cargo was transported long ago.
HARDY GIRLS CONFERENCE
Some of our middle schoolers had the opportunity to represent WCS during the Hardy Girls conference on Wednesday, hosted by Colby College. Our students attended youth-led workshops centered around topics including: self esteem, advocacy, resiliency, and health and wellness, while building connections with other students from around the state. This was a fun and enriching opportunity for our students to step outside of their comfort zones and engage in topics they believe in. They did a fabulous job representing our community!
KINDERKONZERT
March is MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH and on Monday, March 24th RSU1 Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade students took an exciting field trip to the Montgomery Theater at Morse High school to experience a Portland Symphoy Orchestra KinderKonzert! KinderKonzerts are small ensemble performances (woodwind quintet, brass quintet, string quintet, or percussion ensemble) that use storytelling to provide an introduction to music and orchestral instruments. The brass quintet from the PSO performed the Robert McCloskey classic, Burt Dow, Deep Water Man. Students were excited to hear the beautiful music, and to experience the familiar story in a new way.
