Warm Wishes and Gratitude for Our Martin Community
As we approach Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for all that you do to support the Martin community. Your involvement and dedication make such a positive impact on our students and school. A special thank you to those who attended conferences – it’s always a pleasure for staff to connect and collaborate with you about your child’s progress. We are grateful for your continued partnership in helping our students succeed.
We also want to wish all of our families a restful and enjoyable holiday. We hope you have the opportunity to relax, reflect, and spend quality time with loved ones. It’s a great time to recharge before we continue working hard through the rest of the school year. We look forward to seeing everyone back after the break. Enjoy this special time, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Your Feedback Is Vital In Helping Us Improve-Thank You
Dear Huntley 158 families,
I want to take a moment to express our gratitude for entrusting Huntley 158 with the education of your children. It is a pleasure and a privilege to partner with you in shaping their future, and we are committed to providing a nurturing and enriching learning environment for every student, every day. One where students continue to grow academically, as well as one that provides them with the necessary skills to one day graduate from our district and succeed in their world.
We recognize that growth is a continual process, and your feedback is vital in helping us improve. As we round out parent teacher conferences, I hope that you were able to engage in conversations with your child(ren)’s teacher(s). While strong partnerships at the classroom and school levels are key, we at the district level reflect on opportunities that can help strengthen our practices as well. Thus, we are asking for your feedback through a brief 3-5 minute survey. Your insights will guide us as we strive to better meet the needs of our students and families. This survey will be open through Monday, December 9, 2024.
Thank you for your partnership and for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Together, we can continue to collaborate to provide the best experience for all of our Huntley 158 students.
May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
With gratitude,
Jessica Lombard, Ed.S.
Superintendent

15th Annual Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive: Help Us Make a Difference!
As the holidays approach, we want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for your ongoing support. This time of year is especially meaningful for children facing poverty, homelessness, or other hardships. Simple comforts—like a cozy pair of pajamas and a new storybook—can make a world of difference in creating a soothing bedtime routine and providing a sense of stability.
It’s also the perfect time to help our students learn the value of giving and become young philanthropists!
We are thrilled to be partnering with Scholastic for the 15th Annual Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive. This wonderful initiative encourages classrooms to collect brand-new pajamas for children in need. For every pair of pajamas donated, Scholastic will match it with a brand-new storybook—up to 100,000 books!
We’ve already started collecting pajamas with our students, and we would love for you to join us in this effort. If you would like to contribute, please send any new pajamas to school by December 6th. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of children in need.
Together, we can spread warmth and kindness this holiday season, one pair of pajamas (and one storybook) at a time!
Thank you for your generosity and support.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Julie Greif

HHS Students Present on the NASA App Development Challenge
HHS Students Present on the NASA App Development Challenge - Mon., 12/2 @ Huntley Library
Six computer science students from Huntley High School are embarking on a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) journey this school year by participating in NASA’s App Development Challenge (ADC). The ADC, one of eight Artemis Student Challenges, is a coding challenge presenting students with technical problems seeking their contributions to deep space exploration missions. Students will talk about their journey and show their model of the flight path and stages of the Artemis II mission at a free presentation for the public on Monday, December 2, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the Huntley Area Public Library. The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program
Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas morning. The Salvation Army Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year. Once a child or senior adult has been registered and accepted as an Angel their Christmas wish list is shared with donors in your community who purchase gifts of new clothing and toys. The gifts are distributed to the family to place under their family Christmas tree.
Cold Weather - Safety
As the weather begins to change, we want to remind everyone to ensure students are dressed appropriately for colder temperatures and any unpredictable weather conditions. Please make sure your child comes prepared with layers, jackets, and any other necessary gear for outdoor activities.
When weather conditions permit, students will go outside if the cold air temperature or wind chill temperature is greater than 15 degrees Fahrenheit.
Additionally, we encourage you to check here for information on inclement weather and FAQs.
For helpful tips on keeping your child safe during the winter months, please click here for more Winter Safety Information.
Thank you for your support in keeping our students comfortable and safe!

Importance of Student Attendance
Martin Attendance Line: (847) 659-5311
As we head into the colder months, we’re seeing an uptick in illnesses, which has led to an increase in student absences. We want to remind everyone of the importance of good hygiene, especially hand washing, to help reduce the spread of germs. Additionally, as temperatures drop, please make sure your child is dressed warmly and appropriately for the weather to stay healthy and comfortable at school. We understand that illnesses happen, but maintaining regular attendance is crucial for your child’s success. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a healthy school community!
