Math Skills for the week:

The students will: introduce place value, counting coins (pennies, nickels and dimes), and making connections between using cubes and counting coins.

Vocabulary words: place value, ones, tens, hundreds, coins, cents, pennies, nickels dimes, cubes, longs and flats.

Students will practice counting by ones, fives and tens to add a variety of coins together.

Cubes, Longs and Flats

1 cubes is the same value as one cent or 1 penny.

1 long is the same as 10 cents or one long.
