Staff and Parent Spotlight
We want to highlight staff members and parent volunteers who go above and beyond to make our school the magical place that it is.
Staff Member: Jamie Zemel
Ms. Zemel, our speech and language teacher, supports so many of our students on campus each and every day. From providing speech assessments to speech services and running IEP meetings almost every day, Ms. Zemel ensures all of our students get the services they need. Ms. Zemel does an amazing job of communicating with parents and staff to make sure the team is always connected and student centered.
Parent: Julie Peterson
Julie supports our McKinley and PACS community behind the scenes so much each and every day. Have you ever viewed our website? Julie is the one who updates our school website and makes sure that everything is up to date. Also, Julie provides tremendous support for our performing arts production, graduation and promotion, participating in committees, and so much more. Thank you, Julie!
OPEN HOUSE- Wednesday, May 22nd
ELAC Cinco de Mayo Celebration SUCCESS
Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the ELAC Cinco de Mayo celebration! Our ELAC community put together a great celebration with food, music, demonstrations, and fun for all! In total, this event raised $2,234 for the school. Thank you, ELAC!
Volunteers Needed for Field Day on the Last Day of School (Friday, June 7)
The PACS Leadership students are putting on their annual Field Day on the last day of school - Friday, June 7. They could use a dozen parents during each shift (grades TK-3, 4-6, and 7-8) plus a few helpers to clean up at the end of the day.
This is a great way to send our students off into summer! For more details and to sign up for one or several shifts, click here (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080848A4A62EA6FF2-49545396-2024).

Community Bond Meeting- Wednesday 5/22 at 6:30 at McKinley
In alignment with our Mission, Core Values, and Goals, Petaluma City Schools (PCS) is working with Dreiling Terrones Architecture (DTA) to do Facilities Pre-Bond Planning that will include all elementary and secondary schools as well as our District Office and other District facilities. This plan will provide information and guidance to the Board of Education for any near-term decisions on facilities funding and guide future long-term planning for our District's facilities. The key question that we are asking of the community is, "How can our facilities best serve the educational mission of our District and the PCS community?"
We would like to hear from the PCS community about the future of our schools and facilities by holding Community Meetings and asking you to complete a questionnaire. Your insights will help shape our priorities based on community needs and goals. While we may not be able to tackle every concern right away, we can't address what we're not aware of your ideas, whether big or small, are incredibly valuable and steer our way forward. The ideas, concerns, and feedback gathered through the questionnaire and community workshops will be useful tools for our Board of Education and District Administration to define a clear "road map" for going forward.
Live translation services will be available at every meeting.
Please take a moment to complete the survey regarding planning for the bond.
