What is a Teacher Tool Challenge?

Each month a new challenge will be issued to MPS classroom teachers. This is a voluntary challenge for those wanting to up their technology integration skills in the classroom or just want to try something new. A random drawing will be conducted quarterly to win a gift card. Each Teacher Tool Challenge you complete qualifies you for one entry.

GRAMMARLY AUTHORSHIP - TRACK YOUR WRITING STUDENTS

What is Grammarly Authorship:

First and foremost, it is not AI detection. Authorship is turned on by the student and gives the student feedback on their writing process allowing them to track where their writing content is coming from, whether it is pulled from other sources, AI or self written. They can then share this tracking with teachers. Authorship is a tool to guide students in using AI appropriately while providing accountablity.

Why is it Valuable to Teachers?

"Rather than attempting to detect AI-generated content after the fact, it offers a window into the entire writing and editing process. By tracking where text comes from—whether typed, pasted, or edited with AI tools—Authorship provides faculty with clear, verifiable information about how assignments were created across the student-AI collaboration process."

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE

The Challenge

1. Have students open a Google Doc. They should see the green Authorship symbol in the bottom left of the paper. See the GIF below for visual.

Fort studetns:

Click the green icon in bottom left hand of document and click "Start Tracking".
Students will then write paper.
When they are finished, they will click the bottom left icon again and click "See Report".
The report will open. They can click "Share" in the upper right hand corner.
Turn on "Make this visible to anyone with the link".
Copy the link and share it with their teacher.

2. Upload one copy of a student's report t into our montlhly padlet. Please, crop out any identifying information. (Be sure to sign in to padlet.com using your MPS Gmail). Answer any questions in the padlet. This is your documentation for entry into the drawing.
