Kindergarten, first, and second grade students are learning problem-solving methods. Kelso's Choice is a fun, informative song that helps us remember choices that can help us work through the Second Step resource of problem-solving. This method is called STEP. S is for saying the problem, T is for thinking of solutions, E is for exploring consequences and P is for making our plan. We are also working on becoming more caring students after Sunset's motto "Kids of Character".
Please know you are always welcome to stop by, call, or email with any questions.
Friday, May 2nd is Career Day at Sunset School. If you would like to help our students with a career or hobby that you have, please let me know, if you haven't already, and I'll be in touch! You will be giving 8 presentations lasting 18 minutes for grades second through fifth. This is one less presentation than in the past years and only 18 minutes instead of 20-minute presentations. Thank you so much for trusting your children with us! We are here to help in any way possible!

In March we are working on the Fairness Pillar of Character.
3rd Grade Swimming Lessons
Free swimming lessons are being offered by the Rec Center to 3rd graders, the upcoming sessions are, March 3 through March 13; and April 7 through April 17; Mondays through Thursdays, unless otherwise noted. Class sizes are limited to 8 students per class. Due to class sizes and to maximize the time allowed for teaching swim classes, there are two different time slots; 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. and 4:15-4:45 p.m. Once all lessons are complete all children still in the pool will be directed to the locker rooms to change.
Rec Center registration forms and information about the swimming lessons were sent home in December; they are also available at the Rec Center. Return completed registration forms to the Rec Center. A bus will transport students from Sunset School to the Rec Center, parents will pick up their student after the lesson. Parents must pick their student up at the Rec Center NO LATER than 5:00 p.m.
Make sure your student leaves home with their swimming clothes and a towel!
