Meet the Teacher Night - Wednesday, August 28
It has been wonderful to have kids in the building this week, and they have done a FANTASTIC job of settling in and getting started in classes. We hope that you will join us this coming Wednesday to learn about each of the classes your child has this year. 7pm begins our Meet the Teacher night on Wednesday.
This year we will start with a short presentation from myself and Mr. Sturm, and the McClure Parent Council in the gym, so please plan to arrive in time to be seated by 7pm. Following that presentation, you will head off to your child's first period - please ask your child where to go for 1st and then we will have student schedules there for you to pick up. You'll run through the whole schedule, meeting each teacher and hearing about this year's curriculum.
At lunchtime there will be a grade level presentation in the lower level from our grade level team leaders Scott VonBank (6th), Stephanie King (7th), and Lisa Tippet (8th), so please plan to come down to the lower level during your child's lunch period.
Below is the schedule for the night:
Fall Activities
If you child is interested in any of the upcoming activities this fall, or you'd like to take a look at what activities are coming up in the year you can take a look HERE on our school website.
Fall activities starting up now:

Boy's Softball - There are spots open for softball too! Talk to Mr. Kiffmeyer for more information. Tryouts are next Monday and Tuesday at Spring Rock park.
Other Activity Opportunities
We have a few activities that are offered to our students by current or former parents. You'll find details about two of these below.
Dance Company
The McClure Dance Company (MDC) aims to provide a respectful, kind, creative, motivating environment where dancers feel safe to celebrate themselves, take risks and explore the beauty of dance. Audition information and more can be found via the company website. Audition clinic is today after school, with auditions on Sunday, August 25.

Bulldog Junior Golf League
Hello McClure Family,
We are excited for the return of the school year and another season of the Bulldog Junior Golf League. It’s amazing that we are starting our 15th season. We hope your child will consider participating with their fellow Bulldogs this Fall. Please find information and registration material at this link. If you have additional questions, please contact us.

Sports Physicals
A current sports physical is required for every student who wishes to tryout for or participate in an interscholastic sport. Also required is a concussion form signed by both a parent and the student. (Physical exams required for 6th grade also meet this requirement.)

Any and all health papers can be dropped off in our main office, in the black drop box just outside the main doors, or emailed to jward@d101.org.
National Junior Honor Society
This year, for the first time, McClure Junior High School will induct 8th grade students into a National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a middle school student. Our chapter will work hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter strives to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These five ideals are considered as the basis for selection. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Junior Honor Society strives to recognize the total student, one who excels in all of these areas. The standards used for selection are: Scholarship (3.8-4.0 GPA), Leadership, Service, Character and Citizenship (as demonstrated by activities and teacher evaluations).
For 8th grade students who are eligible to be inducted this year, applications are due by 8AM on September 5th. Invitations were sent via email.
One of the D101 Handbook updates worth a separate call-out and additional information is that of the Personal Electronic Device Policy. Please read a detailed message on the policy change via the PDF below.
Additionally, please find the updated D101 Acceptable Use Policy HERE or attached as a PDF below. We will send a hard copy of this policy home with students in the first few days of school, which will need to be signed both both the parent and student, and returned to school.
We deeply appreciate your partnership and support of this policy change as we strive to keep our classrooms safe and focused on learning.
Also, hopefully everyone received yesterday's stand alone message regarding the Parent Technology Guidebook and takes some time to review it. It has useful information whether your child has a device or not and touches on screen time, cyber safety, social media, and all things technology usage.
