Celebrate Creativity Month the entire month of January with these daily prompts provided by our Fine and Performing Arts Department!
January 1st
Take out your art supplies and use your collage and art skills to create a vision board for your goals for 2024!
January 2nd
Listen to your favorite songs and talk about them as a family! Use these discussion prompts to get you started:
Why is this your favorite song?
What does it make you think about? What stories come to mind when you’re listening?
How does it make you feel?
Which instruments stand out to you?
How would you describe the music?
If you were the writer/composer, what would you change about this song and why?
Challenge question: How would you describe the tempo and dynamics of the music?
January 3rd
Design your dream house! You can draw it by hand using any drawing or coloring materials, build it out of cardboard, recycled materials, or blocks or use any programs you know on the computer! When designing, think about…

What features does it include? Why are these features important to you?
How many people does the house accommodate?
How do you want to feel when you’re in the house? What amenities does the house include to create that feeling?
What size is the house? How many floors? How many rooms?

January 4th
Visit amazing museum exhibitions all over the world without leaving your house by exploring Google Arts and Culture! As a challenge today, virtually:
Visit one gallery
Visit one museum exhibition
Learn about one specific artwork
Then, share what you learned with someone!
January 5th
Learn how to weave using recycled cardboard and any type of string!
January 6th
Learn about Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller, an American Sculpture in the 1910s and 1920s who lived and worked in Framingham! Then, visit her work in person at the Danforth Museum on 1/14 during Drop Into Art!
January 7th
Learn about your history by creating a family or community tree! Talk to family or community members to learn where each person came from and to share their stories. Then, create a visual representing your biological or chosen family.
January 8th
Play some theatre games with friends or family!
January 9th
Take a walk outside and notice three things in nature. Then, create a piece of art about them. This could be a drawing, a painting, a poem, a photograph, a sculpture, or any other way you want to create!

Take a photo series! Choose a theme and take several photos related to it.
January 12th
Visit Project B Gallery at the Mill Contemporary Art Studios, 2 Central St., Mill 1, from 5-7pm to attend the opening reception for All That’s Constant is Change, a Framingham High School drawing, painting, and photography show. While you’re there, visit the Mill Contemporary Art Studios open studios night to meet local Framingham Artists, see their work and tour their studios!

Learn a dance from a YouTube video!
January 14th
Drop Into Art at the Danforth Museum! Take the whole family to this free Sunday event at the Danforth from 1-4pm where you can explore the museum and participate in an art project!
January 15th
Create your own board game! Design the theme, the rules, and make it out of cardboard or other recycled art materials!
January 16th
Learn about Tyree Guyton and the Heidelburg project, and read his book Magic Trash. Using this as inspiration, draw a picture of your neighborhood and how you would use your creativity and artistic ideas to make it look even more beautiful!
January 17th
Write a song! Invent your own melody or write new lyrics to a song you already know.
January 18th
Enjoy an evening of art! Stop by Cameron Middle School from 6-8:30pm for their Winter Art Show and Band Concert.
January 19th
Spend a night out at the theater! Framingham Drama Company Presents: The Wizard of Oz at 7:30pm. Purchase tickets here.
January 20th
Create a scrapbook for the year ahead! Print out images and photos to get started with your January page.
January 21st
Build a fort with blankets, pillows, and other items in your house!
January 22nd
Spend the next few days developing your musical ear! Tonight, support our youngest voices by attending the Potter Road Elementary Kindergarten-2nd Grade Winter Concert from 6:30-8pm!
January 23rd
See the 3rd-5th grade students perform at the second Potter Road Elementary Winter Concert from 6:30-8pm!
January 24th
Play Quick, Draw with Google AI and add your drawings to the world’s largest doodling data set, shared publicly to help with machine learning research.
January 25th
Exercise your voice by attending the Walsh Middle School Chorus Concert from 7-8:30pm!
