A Note from the Office
Greene Families
Well that was quite a week! The students did a great job adjusting back to a school routine, so thank you for your partnership in that!
The morning arrival process, as we anticipated, was a challenge this week with no walkers or bike riders and more families choosing to drive their students. I appreciated the feedback and suggestions for making the process more efficient and shared some of those with our district and community partners. As a reminder, a student cannot be marked late to school if they ride the bus.
There is a lot that happens in the Spring and there will be a ton of information about transitioning to the junior high, course selection, fun programming, book fairs, testing, clubs and activities...from all of the schools you have students at. I feel it in our household so to help highlight NEW information we will use "The Brief" up top to share NEW information.
As a reminder, 6th grade families will notice a new section of the newsletter with information from the Junior High. Please check there for information and updates about course selection and transition information.
On Monday and Tuesday we will do MAP Makeup Testing for those students who were absent before break. Teachers will have lists and will assist students who that impacts to get where they need to be!
Finally...our awesome Author Visit will have more highlighted information each week (see below). What a cool opportunity for our students! I am on my 3rd Margaret Peterson Haddix book and looking for a good suggestions!
Thanks!

Ride the Bus for a Smoother, Safer Morning!
As the weather gets colder and morning traffic picks up, we want to remind students and families that riding the bus is the best option for a smoother start to your day. Not only will you avoid the hassle of sitting in traffic, but you’ll also get to school safely and on time!
When temperatures dip below 20°F, including wind chill, we want to ensure that everyone stays warm and comfortable. On these chilly mornings, students who arrive early will be allowed inside starting at 7:30 a.m. to wait in the cafeteria.
If it’s possible for you, please consider taking the bus this winter season. It’s a great way to stay warm, avoid the stress of traffic, and make sure you're ready for a great day of learning!

Junior High Information
Message from the Junior High
Dear 6th Grade Families,
I hope this email finds you well! I am excited to invite you to our 6th Grade Parent Meeting, which will take place on Wednesday, February 12th, at Sycamore Junior High. This meeting is designed to help you and your child prepare for the transition into Junior High and to provide important information as we look ahead to next school year.
During the evening, we will discuss several key topics, including an overview of the scheduling process for rising 7th graders, our building expectations, and an introduction to the junior high experience. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to meet our counseling and administrative team, who will be here to provide support and answer any questions you may have.
We strongly encourage all 6th grade families to attend this informative session, as it will help ensure a smooth and successful transition for your child.
We look forward to seeing you on February 12th at 6:30pm in our new theatre.
A note from the Nurse
Attention: Parents of 6th Grade Students
Two immunizations are required by the state of Ohio (ORC 3313.67) before the start of 7th grade. Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis booster) and Meningitis (MCV4). Your child may already have had them at their 11 year old check up. If so please obtain a copy of those immunizations. If not, please make an appointment for your student to get these two immunizations. Once you have obtained copies of TDAP and MCV4, send them to Laurie Dobrowolski RN at E.H.
