Happy New Year!?! Well, happy new 4-H year! August is the beginning of the new 4-H club year in Tennessee. Now is the time to start thinking about the new year, and about how you can help your 4-H club to start the new year off right.
The best thing to do is to plan, plan, plan. Plan the whole year! That includes regular club meetings, service projects, portfolio workshops, judging team trainings, and other activities. Don't forget to involve the new officers in your planning, once they are determined.
To help in the planning process, you can use the Tennessee 4-H Volunteer Handbook, in addition to other information provided by your county 4-H office. This handbook provides some great information on how your 4-H club, and its members, can "Make the Best Better."
We are excited to announce the third annual 4-H Picnic at the Fair. The event will be held on Friday, August 16 at the State Fairgrounds in Lebanon (James E. Ward Agricultural Center, 945 E. Baddour Parkway, Lebanon, TN) and will begin at 3:00 pm central. There will be good food, great entertainment, and even better people gathering to celebrate Tennessee 4-H.
All funds raised will be used to provide 4-H camp and educational conference scholarships. Through your generosity at the 2022 and 2023 Picnic at the Fair, we were able to offer a 4-H Camp Scholarship to all 95 Tennessee counties.
Visit this website for registration and sponsorship opportunities.
Happy July 4th!
We hope you and yours had the opportunity to celebrate our nation's 248th birthday on July 4th. Here is a video (from WBIR) of a traditional "anvil shoot," that happens annually at the Museum of Appalachia in Anderson County.

To the 250+ volunteers who are serving at 4-H Summer Camp, thank you! You are making a difference in the lives of the youth you serve.
It is because of you, that 4-H Camp can happen, and that 4-H can, Make the Best Better!
