Principals' Message
Happy first week of April! Students enjoyed an earned PBIS school wide celebration dance party on Friday! Students contributed song requests for the playlist and danced to favorite songs from Encanto, Trolls and other popular hits. There were streamers, balloons and a photo booth! Thanks to our PBIS team for making this so special.
Students in both third and fourth grade will be taking the VTCAP assessments next week on Wednesday and Thursday and the following Tuesday and Wednesday. Teachers have fresh air breaks, snacks, and mints to help engage students during these unusual, zigzag days. Please make sure your students are well rested, eat breakfast and are in attendance for these mandated state tests.
Additionally, the Harwood musical Anything Goes will be performed at the Harwood auditorium tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30pm. There will also be a family-friendly matinee at 1:30 on Saturday which will include an introduction to the orchestra and a “meet the cast” on stage following the show. Tickets are available at the door - $10 adults, $5 students.
On April 8, Brookside will have an amazing duo of superheroes without capes, including a Purple Heart Recipient who has published a children’s book, to teach our students how to activate compassion, empathy and HOPE in their classrooms — and beyond. You can find out more about this exciting opportunity at Sweethearts and Heroes.
Have a wonderful weekend!
In partnership,
Chris & Sarah

Waterbury Volunteer Community Fair
Revitalizing Waterbury, in partnership with the Town of Waterbury, is launching an initiative to build awareness of local volunteer-based organizations and help them recruit and retain further volunteer support. First, RW will post a "Volunteer Opportunities" page on our website. Completing this form will add your organization to the site with brief volunteer job descriptions and contact information for interested parties to follow up. Thanks to John Bauer and Denis Palic for your work on this. This form can also be used to register your organization for a table at the Waterbury Community Volunteer Fair at Brookside Primary School on Saturday, May 17th. Set up begins at 12 noon and the Fair runs from 1 to 3 pm. In addition to setting up a tabletop display and talking to potential volunteers about ways to engage with your organization, participants can attend panel discussions on Recruiting & Managing Volunteers and/or Non-Profit Fundraising. There is no cost to register, and arrangements are being made for childcare in the Children's Room space for those who need it. A full schedule and listing of confirmed organizations will be posted by April 18.
