Wyatt Wire WEEK ENDING AUGUST 29
CELEBRATING THE 2024 - 2025 SCHOOL YEAR!!!
INTRODUCING OUR NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Hi, My name is Melinda Rauch and I am very excited to be joining the Wyatt family this year as your Assistant Principal. This year marks my 17th year in education and my 1st year in Plano ISD. Previously I was an Assistant Principal Intern and I’ve also taught first, third, fourth, and fifth grades. I graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and earned my masters degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas. My husband Tim and I live in Prosper and have been married for 35 years. We have a son Mike who graduated from Texas A&M University and is a veterinarian. His wife Amelia is also a veterinarian and they are expecting their first child in November. We are very excited to become grandparents! Our daughter Ashley also graduated from Texas A&M University and works as a Supply Chain Operations manager for Pepsico. We also have a 5 year old Cavapoo named Sadie. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, reading and trying out new restaurants. I look forward to a great year and getting to know both the staff and students at Wyatt!
KONA ICE SURPRISE DURING RECESS FOR OUR STUDENTS! SEPTEMBER 6
The Kona Ice Truck will be at Wyatt on Friday, September 6 during all recess periods!
Parents, you can either give your child money or take advantage of the pre-pay option! Of course, this is totally optional, students are not required to purchase a snow cone!
This is something special we plan to do several times throughout the year! See the QR code below to purchase your child's snow cone. If you have more than one child in school you have to enter each one separately. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
What’s Happening In Guidance
Wyatt Families, I am finishing up my orientation lessons with the school this week. We have reviewed important topics about the School Counselor. Such as, how to make a referral to see me, topics we will be addressing this year in guidance class, confidentiality, and my expectations for them this year.
Also, we will be starting our first Wyatt Character Trait in September, RESPECT! I will be focusing on Respect for the month of September, and incorporating it into my guidance lessons. Take a moment and go over what Respect looks like with your child, and where they can show Respect each day.
Does your child need to chat with the counselor? Click here to complete the parent referral form and I will be in contact with you and/or your child. Parent Referral From for the Counselor
Thank you for your continued support!

ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Grade level teachers talked about cell phones and smart watches at their presentations on Wednesday. If you were unable to attend, the presentation was sent home. Cell phones and smart watches will stay in the backpacks during the school day and students can get them out at dismissal. If your child feels sick during the day, we will see that they see Nurse Drakeley and she will keep you informed if your child needs to go home.
EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION FOR YOUR STUDENT (S)
With regard to the message we sent this week about EMERGENCY CONTACTS... We have learned that SKYWARD is not yet set up to make it possible for you to go in and change your child's emergency contact information. However, if you send it to Mrs. Robertson, she will be able to go in and change it for you. Read the original message below:
** Please make sure you have at least one emergency contact listed who can pick up your child in the event that you cannot. The emergency contact cannot be a parent, it must be someone else. For example, grandparent, family member, neighbor...
We will NOT be able to release students to anyone who is not listed as a pickup person in Skyward Family Access. Please check your information today, to avoid any issues in the future.

VOLUNTEERING THIS SCHOOL YEAR!
We love having Moms, Dads, Grandparents, etc. come to school to volunteer! If you are interested in any type of on campus participation as a volunteer such as chaperoning your child's field trip, helping with a school party, or helping in other ways around our school you need to complete an application at plano.voly.org. It is a requirement of the Texas Education Code, that Plano ISD conducts criminal history record checks through the Texas Department of Public Safety on all volunteers, including but not limited to general campus volunteers, camp counselors, field trip sponsors, mentors and tutors. This is done through the Voly system.
THANK YOU FOR DRIVING CAUTIOUSLY THROUGH OUR CARPOOL
It's only the second week of school and carpool is flowing beautifully! Thank you for driving cautiously through our school grounds! As the weeks continue, carpool will flow even faster.
- Please continue to put your bright grade level signs in your car window. If you need extra signs for other family members just ask your child's teacher.
- Gifford is a great option for anyone who would rather not sit in the long line of the Coit Carpool.
- Email your child's teacher and Mrs. Robertson if there is any change to your child's dismissal location.
AROUND THE DISTRICT
PWSH ROYALES MINI CLINIC
Plano West Royales drill team is now taking registrations for its annual Mini Royales clinic. Registrants (the "minis") in grades K-5 will spend an afternoon at Plano West with the Royales on Saturday, Sept. 14 [1-4 p.m.] learning a dance and doing a craft, etc. Then they have the opportunity to perform at Clark Stadium before the Plano West football game on Friday, September 20. Registration is $60 and will include a guaranteed shirt if registration is received by August 26, just over one week from now.
I've attached a flyer with more information for families.
The Royales would appreciate your help in spreading the word by possibly posting the flyer in your next newsletter to parents and on your social media pages in hopes that some families of your school have or know elementary school families who might be interested. The registration deadline is very soon - August 26 - for a guaranteed t-shirt.
