Can you believe that fall is just around the corner? The leaves are just beginning to change colors on the trees and the temperature will begin to cool. Next Friday, October 11th marks the end of the first nine weeks of our school year. It seems like just yesterday that we started the school year! I hope you and your family have a memory filled fall season.

By this time, you have already heard from your child’s classroom teacher regarding parent teacher conferences. My hope is that our format allows flexibility for you as parents. We have several different times that you can meet with your child’s teacher on the week of October 14th. Thank you for making these conferences a priority, as I would like to have 100% attendance at our parent-teacher conferences. Knowing how your child is progressing academically is very important. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

Our Bulldog Bash is this Friday, October 4th at 8:45 a.m. in our school gym. Parents, if you would like to attend, you are invited!

Mentone Elementary’s upcoming food drive will run from Nov. 18th-22nd . Our goal this year is 2,500 items. Parents, in the next few weeks you will receive more detailed information about this effort. 😊

Hey Dudes! The epic battle of Dudes vs. Donuts continues on October 11th from 7:45-8:30. Don't forget to sign up by October 4th! This year we will enjoy donuts together and have the Valley football seniors there to sign autographs. Come ready for a super fun morning with your favorite dude!

At Mentone Elementary, we believe it is important to honor our local veterans. As citizens of the United States, we continue to enjoy the freedoms that we have as a direct result of the sacrifices made by our current and past service members. The program will take place in our gymnasium on Monday, November 11th at 10:00 a.m. We would like for any veterans who would be comfortable attending our program to arrive by 9:45 a.m. Just a reminder for all our students who are participating in the Veterans Day Program to wear red, white, and blue on this day.

The PTO has had a busy month! We had volunteers helping with Picture Day and the School Smiles Dentist program. The PTO treated the August Teachers of the Month to lunch. They also treated the staff to a delicious Apple Bar this past month!

If you want to be part of the fun, please consider joining us at our next PTO meeting. We will meet on Tuesday, Oct 22 @ 6 pm in the school library.

Picture Re-Take Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th.

This fall, we are thrilled to partner with a new company, SkyTree Book Fairs, to provide a fresh and engaging book fair experience. We hope this new partnership will be a positive and enjoyable one for all our families! Thank you for your continued support of reading at our school and for helping us raise funds to purchase new books for our library. Your support makes a big difference!

The first day of our fall bookfair will be Friday, October 11th. It will be open through Thursday, October 17th. All classes will visit during their library time. We will also be open for Parent-Teacher conferences. The book fair will be located in the school library. You can also provide your student a SkyTree gift card to use at the fair. Purchase and print a gift card at https://skytreebookfairs.org/giftcard . Be sure to print the gift card as book fair hosts do not have the ability to look up gift cards. Gift cards are nonrefundable and can be used in person.
