Highlights from the Week

Hiding God's Word in Our Hearts

Recitation of scripture is one of our favorite and most valued classroom activities! We love seeing our students commit God's word to memory.

Student Led Worship

Upper school music students are learning more than lyrics and chords. They are learning to lead! On Tuesday the upper school worship and devotion time was led by students. Each week they are volunteering and leading peers.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten Graduation

Kindergarten students are getting ready for graduation! These students will show off what they have learned this year at a special ceremony in May.

The Last Supper

1st grade students have been learning about the events that took place during near the time of Jesus' crucifixion. On Friday they learned about the Last Supper and tried foods like Jesus and the disciples may have eaten.

Tennis Season Underway

The boys and girls tennis teams played in two matches last week to open the spring season. On Monday they traveled to Corner where they played a JV match and on Tuesday they played against St. Bernard's varsity. The girls' team won both matches and the boys did well against some very tough competition.

Clean Up Helpers

Students in the Lions' Den are always happy to help with clean up. This week they also took some time to help tidy up the lower pavement by sweeping gravel back into the play areas.

Paper Donations

We would like to say a special thanks to our friends at Modern Woodmen of America for the copy paper donations that they delivered to the Beech Avenue campus this week.

Elementary Play

Upper elementary students will be performing on Friday, April 26th in the musical, "God Squad." God Squad is full of lessons on the full Armor of God, with lyrics that will instill, deep in the hearts of kids, the meaning and profound truth of Ephesians 6:10-17.

We believe in the power of prayer!

Each Tuesday morning parents are invited to join together in prayer.

As students dismiss to class for the day, parents may gather together in the area behind the gym to pray for our students, faculty, and staff.

Spring Formal

Spring Formal (grades 9-12) will be on Friday, April 12th. This event will be held at the Swindall Barn in Fairview from 7-10 PM.

Standardized Test Week (K-6)

Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade will be taking the Iowa Assessment and the CogAT during the week of April 22-26.

ACT Testing for Upper School

Students in grades 7-11 will be testing on Tuesday, April 9th. Grades 7, 8, and 9 will take the PreACT. (Learn more about PreACT HERE.) Students in grades 10 and 11 will be taking The ACT. Both of these assessments are used to help students as they plan for college and future careers.

Lost and Found

With the constant weather changes, we have accumulated a large amount of outerwear in the lost and found. Parents are encouraged to come look through the items if their student is missing anything. Items left unclaimed, will be donated at the end of the school year.

CCS Jersey at Pasquales

This week Mr. Yearwood took a CCS basketball jersey to Pasquales to be displayed. Special thanks to Mrs. Hancock for printing a jersey for us and to Pasquales for including us in their local school recognitions!

Depot Park Progress

We are getting so close to the opportunity to move in to the building at Depot Park for grades 7-12! The church is finishing with final details. Although we will only get to be there for the last few weeks of school, it will be a good opportunity for students, staff, and parents to work out details of how everything works and the best traffic patterns so that we can start off the fall smoothly.

March Madness

These upper elementary students used a little of their free time on Friday watch a little March Madness NCAA Basketball.

CCS families have the opportunity for FREE professional and confidential help with marriage, individual, child, and family issues. Mrs. Holly Powell, a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern, under the supervision of Mrs. Yearwood and Dr. Drew Jamieson (AL MFT License #322) will be offering therapy services at our school.

Mrs. Powell specializes in couples therapy and has spent much of the past three years researching the effects of ADHD on relationships. At CCS, she will be available to see students, families, individual adults, and couples. Her goal is to help people develop skills to improve relationships and begin to cope in healthy ways the challenges life throws at us.
